Stuck on First Loading Screen

I can get into the game fine, set everything up, but then when I launch a new game, it's just stuck on the very first loading screen (before the first cut scene even). This is not a hardware-related problem; my loading times are generally very short. The longest I've tried waiting it out has been about 5 minutes. I also can no longer tab out of the game; it seems to freeze without actually freezing (the key keeps swinging smoothly).

Haven't been able to find anything about this problem online... has anyone had the same issue? I've updated my drivers again like I've seen recommended and am currently reinstalling the game.

Did you modify any .ini files, like to unlock dlc costumes or set 60 fps? I had the same problem some time ago but killing the game and restarting it would work.

Nope, haven't fiddled with anything yet. Was gonna try the 60fps set, but I wanted to fix this before I do. I'll give an update once it's reinstalled, maybe that magically solves it.

i played an hour and wanted to play again the next day and it wont load up. i bought it on origin. how to fix it? everything else works within the game like extra content and can get into settings etc but as soon as i click to play the game loading screen shows up with animation and different "tips" showing every few seconds. left the loading screen on for about 20 minutes and no change. also what i found strange is that music cuts off as well.

Ah sorry, I said I'd report my findings and didn't :D The reinstalling actually did the trick - that also means I have no insight on what was the problem, though, sorry :/

Hi, try to change the resolution to low and all other settings to low. load the game and then change settings back to high. Worked for me!

Now I don't mean to be a rebel but I downloaded mine from a website called MyAbandonWare.com and for the most part it runs extremely well... up till the point I try to leave that village in the intro of the game and the loading screen pops up. From there it just freezes and doesn't work. It's frustrating. That's what I get for trying to download it for free but I have a suspicion that maybe it does work but I'm just able to fix the problem.... Cuz Im teedle dumb and I need help from teedle thee. I do have Alice Madness Returns but I can't find the Alice1 application I've been hearing a lot about... I assume it was a preorder exclusive or something so I don't have it. How do I fix the loading screen problem or find Alice1 because I seriously need help.

The first game was included in a "complete collection" or something like that, that is only available for purchase from the US as far as I remember; as for the loading problem, have you tried what the others did in this thread?

I actually tried the resolution trick and I also tried to skip the intro entirely with some kind of input but nothing has worked for me so far. As far as I know my same version of the game has worked for others but I still haven't figured out how to deal with the loading screen problem.

I'm going to try those and see if I can get past the first loading screen.
