Besides, they took a 2 year break to rebuilt the engine from 2k20 to 22. Now they are using that to build on top, they aren't going to remake the entire engine and graphics every single year, they made a great engine in 22 and now they are hopefully adding content to it. New game modes, new mechanics, more attires, bigger roster etc.
I was going through this this thread wondering why has nobody mentioned that yet. This is so true! The new gameplay videos demonstrating a complete WarGames match don't showcase those expressions or whatever body posture changes that they were talking about. I do notice the stamina circle showing up more frequently than it does in 2K22.
Went through more exclusive views of the game and the wrestler models seem more like a HCTP but for some reason the audience models look better. Can't remember any game in the past where audience looked better and more real than wrestlers lol. Again this might change in the final release.
Now coming to incremental updates. For all those hoping for a radical update, you are just kidding yourself. That is a rare thing, more so in gaming where its a yearly series. I work in IT and I know how sprints in SDLC/PDLC work. They built an engine in 2K22. Took two years for that and think of it like Minimum Viable Product. Now depending on commercials of the game they will keep adding smaller stuff every year hopefully.
Having said that, my favourite is still SmackDown 2 when it comes to a wrestling game overall. Shut your mouth and HTCP come close. I consider the SvR series to be a separate league belonging to a new era of wrestling so SvR and SvR 06 there. These are unbeatable, no point comparing todays games to those. The current games are tied to a new product that most of us having seen the older product and games may not like anyway. Hence the disconnect. How many new players have played the original GM mode, special referee, I quit, casket matches and season mode?
Yet do I want an instant classic? Absolutely Yes! Does this game seem to deliver that given the new gameplay videos and stuff? Probably No.
- No change in game-play except pin system
- No new features in GM Mode, Universe Mode, Career Mode
- No New mode at all, Still 2k resists to bring back THQ modes like Special Referee, I Quit match and Inferno match etc !!
- Unknow information about backstage area, We need a huge backstage area for god sake to combine both garage and different rooms with some street sections, 2k never was good in creating backstages like THQ . . .
- The Only thing added is a double ring match which two rings stick together inside the cell Plus Updated rosters . . .
I was hoping they skip this year and jump to 2k24 because they made delay 6 months last year, They effort 2 years to make a good WWE game and as I predicted this year will be same . . . All these features could add with a major update or patch to the previous game, I will wait for 67% sales to buy this game. . .
MyGM, Universe and MyCareer have not been revealed in gameplay yet, but there have been changes such as 4 players for MyGM, though. You're also forgetting MyFaction which is going online this year.

You're complaining about no "new mode" then describe match types, only to completely ignore the new War Games which is the biggest, consistent match WWE have added to their programming in the past few years.
Backstage has changed every year so far and actually is how they developed the War Games match. They don't need to go into the streets to replicate current WWE, but I assume it has changed again. They have time before release to show this.
Backstage last year had most changes, The problem I had with it was that they removed offices and replaced garage instead, Best they could do was to keep it and not remove previous offices, Just open a way to access new garage and have both Offices and garage together, We need streets as well !!
I don't know what is war games, But if it is something like last year MyFaction or Tower Mode then you know better that most of players will ignore it. . . If only faction mode had an online mode last year and every players could fight against each other with their own cards, I would play WWE 2k22 500+ hours instead of 100 hours. . .
But as a WWE fan, I will buy this game every year like I used to, But this time I will wait for 2/3 off price . . . TBH 2k needs to increase it's effort, Because a new rival such as "AEW" game will add to this competition. . .

Universe added Superstar Mode last year and is supposedly receiving a bit of a refresh this year based on how either MyRise or MyGM works (I'll have to find that interview again to remember which they said). There's no gameplay yet but what were you hoping to have changed?
I'll disagree with the "we need" streets for backstage as that's your personal opinion that "you want" streets for backstage. I'm a bit behind on day-to-day WWE, but if current WWE is using the streets during matches (except for matches set in the streets already like Parking Lot Brawls) then fair enough.
With Showcase, Universe, MyGM, MyRise and MyFaction, what other actual modes were you looking for? I think this covers everything the NBA 2K games have now, for example...
These are other small tips that me and other people can recommend in communities :
- GM mode needs to have all kind of belts and matches, It got better with further update in 2k22 but still needs to be more complete !!
- Universe mode needs to be more alive with some story creation and custom cutscenes
- Career mode can be great if it's exactly like the same as NBA 2k career mode, Separating an offline story with an online mode in free-roam and interacting with other player rosters. . .
At least if it's not possible for 2k to bring the same Career mode like NBA, Despite of the thing that free-roam in 2k18 implemented badly, I say mixing last year career mode + 2k18 free roam can be a great thing, Because surfing in mobile and choosing rosters to talk is boring. . .
- Back in the day in WWE, Roster went to streets but for now, They can make some Crowd NPC's at least, Like when you carry your opponent to restaurant, You see some crowd NPC's are there to cheer or boo you or they will run if you get close to them. . .
But what could be worse, We all do suggestions to have a better game if 2k pay some attention. . .
We don't know about the modes yet, they weren't even an option for those who played the game. I'd also note that I'd be less likely to play MyRise if you had to play others online even though I have made suggestions on how to present a free roam lobby that works like the Performance Center in the past. I'm hoping it won't be mandatory in MyFaction this year.
I mentioned one of other's people because at first you said these are only my personal opinions and then you said you are repeating other's opinions, So what should I do finally ? . . .
Yes, no one's played WWE 2k23 yet except some YouTubers but our informations are based on current ones, Usually 2k will release final informations couple weeks before release . . . I just mention my tips to be visited by developers, As much as the game will be greater we are happier more . .
From my thinking, it's only a "need" if it's something that would stop you playing that game/mode. Those "tips" you mentioned would have to be already in the game to make it this year, just not yet revealed.
It's harder than people think, especially on an annualized and licensed IP (for all manner of reasons,) to take feedback into account and make changes responsive to it. So that's awesome to hear because those were two major critiques many people had last year, and it sounds like they at least heard us.
The remaining things I need (personally) to see before I'll even consider biting again (see my 2K22 review for specific reasons if anyone's curious) are: no major disruptive Universe mode bugs such as invisible wrestlers, titles not changing hands as intended, etc.; no instability introduced by downloading too many community creations (or if that is a factor, a clearly listed limit on how much to download and not exceed, or a hard limit that simply prevents users from going over it); accessibility options such as disabling QTEs working online; and the ability to play with unlocked MyFaction superstars in modes outside of MyFaction.
I think those are all totally reasonable and very doable, and have nothing to do with actual in-game content, so they represent a low bar. They're literally just QOL and stability issues, which should be very achievable low hanging fruit. If they aren't achieved, I'll have to pass personally. I refuse to go through what I did in 2k22 again, especially when some of those issues have been present for years, including in 2K19, which was the game they were supposed to put behind them last year.
But as I said, what we've seen so far is encouraging in terms of their response to user feedback.
What is still missing and should be really easy to implement since some of those thing were in previous titles and honestly from what ive seen after 1 year of development im not impressed at all :
Here are some of the essential stuff that should've been there :
- Tired finishers and crawling pins
- rope break animation
- rope break animation from a submission reaching the ropes
- limb targeting should have impact on the matches , I hate it when I target for ex someone's leg and get it to red and he acts like it's perfectly normal !!!!
- titles to be under the jackets not above the jackets !
- 90s HBK , HHH , Kane , Rock etc etc , shouldn't be locked to myfaction
- there should be an option for all shirts to be tucked or untucked in creation suite
- Shirts should have better animations during certain moves where the wrestler is upside down like in a tree of woe position it should be free flowing
- Referees should stay down way longer when hit , even when setting sliders of referee recovery to 100 in 2k22 they still recover way way fast
- Blood is sadly the same like 2k22 , I mean there should be option for blood like 2k19 where it reaches the chest , they could've added blood options in the menu like : ( Mild , Normal , Extreme ) we need to recreate old school bloody matches and that is impossible in all the games past 2k19
I don't know what's really hard since most of these stuff where there in previous games!!!
Yeah and for the love of god we need RAW is WAR arena back instead of community creations
None of those things you listed are "essential", and wouldn't be "really easy to implement". The game has evolved since whichever of those were last in the game so it can't just be plugged in.
The Raw is War arena took me less than 15 minutes to put together in the Creation Suite as the template and assets are already there, and I'm a novice at creations.
