TL;DR : if you want peoples to take you seriously in a discussion, don't open that discussion with an ad hominem argument.
sad to see
nobody says that
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” ;
But the reality is that no, your ignorance isn't as good as people's knowledge, so you can't brush aside other peoples' rebuke just because you didn't understand one word in it, especially in the age of unlimited internet connection.
Or would anyone be praising this game if ubisoft had published/made it?
Tough questions to answer as we'll never know but to me this game does nothing new. The combat wrinkle is a hit with the soulsbourne gatekeepers it seems and as OP says it is being heralded as the game of the year and new saviour of gaming putting AAA studios to same for... some reason?
I thought the game was overhyped a couple of days after starting it and now after finishing it I find the hype totally weird. It doesn't seem to be forced/fake though, people genuinely think this is one of the best games ever. You see it all over the internet.
I'll just add it to the phenomenon I don't get, with Harry Potter and the rest.
