Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Does this game support HDR ?
We've been seeing games that don't support HDR for a while now, and I don't know why. Is it expensive to develop or does it require a lot of effort to be added?

The most obvious example is the release of a game like Oblivion Remastered from Bethesda, which has many HDR Support games, and suddenly Oblivion isn't supported.

So I'm concerned that Clair Obscur Expedition 33 won't support it either. and dont mention RTX HDR, Auto HDR, or anything else because they don't deliver the same quality as Native HDR.

hopefully it does
Doesn't say anything about HDR on the Xbox app's store page.
Edit: ...when other titles with HDR specifically state HDR10 as a tag on them.

What'd you expect? Bethesda doesn't know what HDR is, and you're better off for it. They have never released a game that supports HDR, and they never will.

You're almost certainly thinking of Bethesda the publisher (ZeniMax), not Bethesda the developer. Other devs they publish for such as iD Software are versed in HDR development.

HDR is not expensive to develop for, it just requires a lot of knowledge that developers do not have. You are better off with third-party mods from people who specialize in HDR development.

it's not that hard, most of the time simply enabling the setting and making a toggle works in like 90% of cases.
"and dont mention RTX HDR, Auto HDR, or anything else because they don't deliver the same quality as Native HDR."

RTX HDR has better black levels than nativ HDR implementation, because the HDR1000/HDR10 standard says that the black level of a screen/tv cannot be higher than 0.05 nit, RTX HDR can...
Game developers simply following these standards.

That is objectively not true. There's nothing about native hdr that means black levels should be worse.

The only reason that happens is cause a lot of games are made with only SDR in mind.

There's no such standard to even follow. HDR1000 is not a thing, and HDR10 is just SMPTE 2084 w/ Rec 2020 color primaries. The maximum black level cannot be higher than 10,000 nits, that's the only thing that says.

Spoiler, no HDR. The Nvidia app picks the game up but it just says to configure settings in game, so no RTX HDR. At least to my knowledge. I sincerely hope someone proves me wrong

Then use RenoDX or Special K. They actually use the in game engine or data from the in game engine to render the hdr and isn't a post process shader like Auto HDR or RTX HDR.

Doesnt matter. ReShade does.

RTX HDR works fine. RenoDX might look better though I haven't tried it.

Does RTX HDR have much performance impact?

Massive, yes.

Special K and AutoHDR have zero impact. AutoHDR may have some impact on very memory bandwidth constrained systems, but short of maybe handlhelds or laptops it's not measurable.

If RenoDX works it WILL look better as it is a change to the actual render pipeline to do HDR unlike RTX HDR and AutoHDR which are just post-process HDR. This means RenoDX will not affect UI elements either.

Thankfully that last bit is wrong. You can control the luminance of the UI to make up for problems in HDR. You're thinking of AutoHDR, that one doesn't affect UI.
