This is the reason why the main char in FGO doesnt say anything at all except for some decisions which have zero effect at all

prrffft isn't FGO in general a game made for coomers? Yes, there is story and lore to kind of make the franchise relevant, but the main target audience have always been coomers.

Now they make a game with two male protagonists and barely give you a taste of the other characters. This seems oddly contradictory. They could have still made the same game but implement more options or opportunities for people to use servants and everyone would have been happy. At least make a free mode or endless mode or something where you can go ham with the other characters.

This game is the very definition of tease and deny.

You are not able at any point (post-game for example) to take control of the other servants and redo levels or stuff like that then? This would be a dealbreaker for me buying this game.
I really don't find Iori interesting at all and all the trailers and promo content had Musashi and the others front and centre.

If you really believe that personality is gender-locked, that sounds like a somewhat problematic/archaic world view -- and rather limited exposure to other games or anime.

Just like Alien's Ellen Ripley got gender-switched early in the creation of that movie, there is not one narrative reason that, say, Lara Croft couldn't have also been a man (*cough*Uncharted*cough*) or Adam Jensen couldn't have been a woman (you know, like in the series' previous game, which still offered a choice of male or female for Alex Denton). And the same is true for this product.

Either way, I appreciate the information from this thread. I already had a feeling, since it's almost expected for these games to exclusively cater to male protagonists, but since the Steam page does not talk about the player character at all, the clarification is useful!

But being able to choose adds value for the people who want to choose and there is no good reason given why we can't be given that choice.

But the point stands that there is no reason given why the MC is only male with no female option. Not one part of the MC's story is dependent on them having a penis. So failing to give the player the option of being a female MC is just stupid.

So yeah I voted against this game with my wallet by choosing not to buy it solely because of this as is my prerogative because it is my money.

You people do know Miyamoto Iori is a real historical figure, right? He's not just some self-insert Master like Guda or Hakuno. He's the actual adoptive son of Miyamoto Musashi.

And before you point out that genderbending is common in Fate, yes they COULD have made him a girl if they really wanted to. But having the player choose wouldn't make any sense lore-wise.

What im saying is that i prefer a gender locked character, bc there is a reason why the storywriter wrote the character in a specific gender.
It would not make any sense not to include a gender option in the case, that there is not a reason in the story why the character is a male, bc it would exclude potentially other customers which is businesswise dumb.

Whatever, apparently ppl always assume something if it involves gender.
Too be honest, i would also prefer a female locked option over a male option, im just not a big fan of choosing one bc most games i played with that option were bad, which is the reason why im biased against that idea.
