ARMORED CORE™ VI FIRES OF RUBICON™

Is Steel Haze Ortus ridiculously easy to take down or is it just me?
I was expecting him to be super fast and tough to beat but he went down very easily and I didn't even run out of repair kits. All I needed was one gatling, one siege missile launcher and two stun needles. None of which I brought specifically for that fight.

Depends largely on your build, and how skilled you are at the fight.

All the fights I found easy have been a nightmare with Loader 4. Some feel impossible, because at my current skill level, I can't compensate for the lack of...everything lol.
It was a huge letdown, easier then the first rusty fight. Atleast you get a really good torso out of it. Think Snail was the toughest AC fight in the game, along with the zimmerman, cannon tank on the early optional betrayal.

Volta was such a pain. idek how he died at Wallclimber. Terrible skill issue
Enemy ACs are built for looks 90% of the time. There's nothing more classic AC than the main rivals having actually garbage loadouts.
I honestly think the OG Rusty was harder, especially with the Alt mission.
don't give him that much credit he can't even beat PCA in 1on 1 fight

It's definitely a valid strategy, but you can't really use the premier loadout for deleting an enemy in seconds, and then complain it deletes them in seconds lmao
Basically this is the mentality a lot of the players in the forum has. 'I used this broken (bit of an exaggeration I know) setup and the game wasn't a challenge wtf.' I fought rusty with my standard light build setup with pistols and the lance and had a blast.

Fighting enemies like rusty, nightfall, freud, michigan etc and cheesing them is a disservice to their fight.

That does beg the question though: At what point is it a cheese build? I mean obviously anything running dual zimmermans with dual stun needles is, but beyond that what is the distinction between "its broken" and "its an effective loadout?"

I think if we are to boil it down to its simplest form for simplicity sake, it would be builds that dont require much skill (learning and utilization of a lot of the games mechanics especially at appropriate times) and offer excellent results due to how effective they are. Basically the player doesn't have to think or change their strategy at all since their strategy is so effective in the first place there is no room to grow, thus letting everything become monotonous.

Dont get me wrong, I like my switch off my brain builds when I'm ready but going against an honest, classic 1v1 AC fight like rusty and bringing the entire US arsenal isn't fun at all. That why OP experienced basically nothing while fighting him.

This is just my take on the topic.

3 of your 4 weapons are S-tier. Gatling is basically S-tier in PvE.

I just kind of assumed they'd not be the best choice because he'd be zipping around at supersonic speed. But... nope...

I had a way harder time with Carla.

Correction by the way. I think it was actually the stun needles, the gatling, and the double laser rifle.

I did find it surprising that Rusty only has the mini "second phase" where he puts up a shield temporarily, while the Carla fight is super annoying thanks to her using lots of repair kits.

Didn't notice Rusty using them.

Rusty does use it, like most AC bosses. If you're not seeing it, it means you nuked him with the needles because he's still a light build.
His enhanced mech is basically a downgrade to the original V.IV. Try them both yourself, his first kit is just good to play as, while the second is slower, worse in regen, worse expansion, worse weapons selection.

Lore wise, Rusty needed a new setup from his donated Nachtreiher build, so fine tuning and adjusting it needed more time than a mission to intercept the redguns, plus he's probably a broke merc. (idk how since the RLF has the biggest payouts on some missions and Intercept the Redguns is 400k+target bonuses)
Rusty is supposed to be scary strong, but unfortunately he pilots a light AC in a meta that favors heavy chonkers. That's why he seems easy. He dies in a single stagger like every other light.
