It maybe not a Big3 TCG but I won't say it's indie.
CFV is somewhat popular in Japan. (iirc it hold spot in 6-8th place at Japan TCG Top10 every year)
It was solid 4th in the US until COVID. Its still in the top 10 in the US. I wish they didn't ♥♥♥♥ the monetization of this because this would have been a really good way for people to get into the game if they werent idiots.
the only important thing is the card pass, which costs 51,49 for the ability to have 4 sets in game. that's 12,88€ per set. not sure how much a booster pack costs normally but I'd say comparing to getting a real life deck it's decent.
They should get rid of physical world since they went to digital universal. Since CFV becomes digital, it should have such “skins” packs like CSGO or whatever case games have where you can loot or buy crates and then open it to randomly obtain some card skins or SP versions or whatever cosmetics else.
The developers of digital CFV are really dumpa$$es! They should learn from Valve how to monetize f2p games such as Dota2
This game got a publisher behind it so I wouldn't say it's an indie game, but it's definitely an indie studio.
Is this the best game ever? Because otherwise I'm not seeing what could justify these prices.
This has to be one the worst kind of money greedy companies I have seen to do this. This is along the levels of EA and Ubisoft if not worse
I don't think I have seen a game like this that charges this much money and is seems like its pay2win on top of everything else. I think this company is on another level
Artifact failed because it sucked, also the market
