I know there's an "exploration mode" but I don't actually care about gore, violence, creepiness, whatever. I just really hate being startled.

i thought all the spookyness was tastefully done. not sure if they were going for the 'nightmare where I'm running through molasses' but, if they were, they nailed that. atmosphere is spot on, and I like that the locale and art design were unique. definitely chalking this up to a good memory. no thanks to my own memory, that couldn't remember where anything was. so even for me, the backtracking and item hunting isn't bad at all.
