Will i miss anything doing the Vengeance route?

I was about 18 hours into a playthrough on switch years ago but quit due to the awful framerate. Is the Vengeance story just upgraded like P5R or is it some weird time travel/AU stuff like FF7R?

You can choose between the og story/vengeance story, the story will be branching in midgame

Honestly, just see the original endings on Youtube. It is not worth it to restart after 18 hours.

But if the story changes midway wont I be missing events of the original (other than endings)

SMT V's director said in an interview that it's fine to play the vengeance route first, so you shouldn't miss anything.

I never beat the OG because the Switch hardware sucks, so I'll play the original story first, then on second playthrough check out the new one and see how much better it is.
