People are so braindead in this game

The developers should add an IQ test before allowing people to download the game. Or just give us a kick button or a godamed chat!

If Odyssey adds a chat, chances are people will just be toxic in it. We already have people being incredibly offended over silly little emotes; a chat would just send those snowflakes to the grave.

It's kinda funny that OP want the chat to insult the others, while the next person already enjoying insulting others by being toxic with spamming "silly" emotes. The game is slowly losing the playerbase (at least on Steam) either way due to a lot of reasons, mostly QoL features(like zero ways to disable said emotes) or bad matchmaking or lags.

I never said I did that. In-game, I'm mostly a good sport. I was actually referencing a thread in these forums that has tons of heated discussion over whether or not using emotes is considered a toxic and reportable offense.

That said, while I myself don't spam emotes in-game to be toxic, I do believe people who take offense to such behavior need to grow a backbone. They're literally little anime PNG's. And chat opens up the possibility for actual cruel behavior. :P

I wouldnt mind as long as people can disable chat as well if they dont want to bother with toxic monkeys.

Used to play league of legends a lot and disabled chat there too because usually the team is more toxic then the enemy, had way more fun later on when that was removed.

From my experience, teammates that just play the game wont bother with chat anyway, the people that want to be toxic use that a lot tho, thinking they are the best and everyone else is trash, and they have to let both teams know that cause of small pp

I agree that chat probably isn't need in this game, but for god's sake we need a Core Flip emote or something. So many games where a goalie or anybody for that matter just doesnt use their flip and we lose points as a result.

I've actually been asking for that for a long time. like a "use coreflip" or just a "coreflip" to remind them about it. Too many games i see someone hold onto it from round one till the end of set.

Funny enough it's actually recommended to not interact with chat at all in league. To the point of if you're someone who gets tempted to use it you're better off just turning it off.

I dont mind the function as long as we can disable it. But at the same time i don't see it happening when it's on basically every platform and most of them will have issues using the chat.

Chat is needed, you just don't have enough control with pings (even if these were to be overhauled) to give specific calls that happen extremely often.

So many people stagnate because they have no clue how to play and aren't the type to actively look for guides. What's the solution? Receiving advice from other players. Tell them to stop sending the core to the enemy team. Have that happen across a few matches with people telling them the same, maybe they'll start actually caring about where they sent the core from now on.
Same for teaching goalies to safely clear the ball straight down/up towards angled walls.

What about calls? I can't count the amount of plat ranked games I've lost due to our brawler focusing the wrong player. A simple call "Aimi has to die guys" would do the trick.
Setting up things would be so much easier too, a lot of people tend to send the core away from their Era or Aimi's ult, wasting so many opportunities.

Awakening coordination too, like as a Rune player telling my Era it's okay to take Monumentalist from me because I can still run Timeless Creations but I absolutely need Cast to Last to open up their goalie with my ult.

All these are completely impossible to communicate with pings or even a vgs system like in hirez games.

We are losing so, so much by not having a chat. Controllable toxicity (which is already there with stickers) is such a meager cost for the positives chat brings.

Ofc not during the matches, but during team building and CERTAINLY on the Friends tab, seriously, what if you go afk and need 2 give ur team a headsup? What if a third player is taking some time to join?

Fragile buttercups love to boo boo chat because their lack of spine, but forget that ever since chat was invented, people were given tools to get rid of all unwanted factors, now even more so
And even in its absence, now some are taking problem with 'toxic emotes'; there's no winning at all

Telling the devs to stitch everyone's mouth so you are safe from hearing 'ur mom gay' seems like peak toxicity to me

You can't be expected to communicate to any degree with 5 vague commands and a puny 5 emotes at once bro

If they added it to striker select and awakening select then i see no issue.

It is annoying that they do have a chat for your party in the main menu. But you're not allowed to send messages to someone else or see a status for if they are in a game instead of ignoring you.
