We need more information.

- Which cosmetic? (Please link directly to the item page, just telling us what it's called is not good enough).
- What are you doing when you say "doing everything as it says"?
- Define "open the file" (e.g. what menu/browser are you trying to open it from)
- What exactly does it say when it says that it doesn't exist? (Exact messages are always preferable to paraphrasing).

If you don't bother answer Marco's questions, you won't get any help at all for being uncooperative.

- I want to equip Lurker's Leathers or Chicago Overcoat for Spy. Link to workshop item: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=757577954
- With ''doing everything as it says'' i mean i found where file is located. When i found folder where file should be there was no files but i still tried to open it and then it says ''file was not opened because it doesn't exist''
Basically idk to equip cosmetic from workshop

If you mean in File Explorer, then I'll start by quoting Zappy:

If you're saying the download/update subscribed workshop items and delete unsubscribed workshop items dialog(s) do(es)n't pop up, right-click Source FilmMaker in your Steam library, choose "Properties", switch to the "General" tab, click "Set Launch Options..." and make sure
"-nosteam" is not there, switch to the "Betas" tab, make sure the drop-down beta selection list is set to "NONE - Opt out of all bete programs", switch to the "Local Files" tab, click "Verify Integrity of Application Files...", and wait for it to finish (which is when it says how many files will be re-acquired, not when it says 100%).

However, if that dialogue does pop up and you can actually find your files on disk, but not in SFM, then you'll need to right-click Source FilmMaker in your Steam library, choose "Launch SDK", click "Edit Search Paths For Selected Mod", and tick the box for "workshop" on the list in order to add Workshop content to the search paths.

That sounds like you're using "File" > "Open..." at the top-left of Source FilmMaker, or something like that. You shouldn't do that. You should click the plus icon in the Animation Set Editor and then choose "Create Animation Set for New Model".

If you can't find it there either, follow the instructions in Marco Skoll's comment above this one.

Drag the desired parent animation set (for example a Spy) onto the desired child animation set (for example a cosmetic) to lock all same-named bones of the child to the parent.
After that, select all locked bones of the child (but not any bones that are not locked), go to the Motion Editor, make sure all time is selected, and fully apply the procedural "Zero" preset.

Right-click a cosmetic's animation set, choose "Add Override Materials", right-click it again, choose "Show in Element Viewer" > "Model", expand "materials" at the bottom, expand each material you want to be painted, then click on the colour blob beside the "$colortint_base" attribute (which will already be there for paintable materials, but not non-paintable materials) and change the colour.

Note that in Team Fortress 2, cosmetics can have paint applied to them by overriding the texture's colour or by tinting the texture's colour, but Source FilmMaker only supports the latter, and many cosmetics (including Bill's Hat) use the former method.
Which means that for many cosmetics, the texture(s) may need to be edited to be properly colourable in Source FilmMaker. (In very few cases, just the material has to be edited, but usually it's the texture(s).)
So if a cosmetic doesn't seem to be properly colourable in Source FilmMaker, try looking up a "paint fix" or such for it in Source FilmMaker's Steam workshop. If you don't find one, you might want to try "fixing" the texture(s) yourself. Many different "paint fix" methods are shown in this guide:
