[Support] List of All Files That SFM Uses?
Hello everyone. Yep; I'm still around.

Okay, so I've shifted my interests towards Blender in regards to SFM. In order for me to understand messing with SFM files in Blender, I need to know all or most of the current files that SFM uses. If you are confused, basically I need a list of all or most of the files that will be crucial to messing with stuff in Blender.

Before you do so, YES! I am aware of PTe Jack's video about importing models into Blender. That is not needed rn. I just want to get familiar with the files I'll be working with so I can do some research on what they are and what they do. I know a few of them only, which is why I ask if the community can help me out.

What I plan to do:
1) Decompile a model and recompile it
2) Import a model into Blender (maybe a scene if I can)
3) Make changes to the model and import/export back into SFM

I thank everyone who replies and helps.

Glad to see ya still kicking around.
I wish I could help ya out, but I'm kind of in the same position, attempting to learn Blender so that I can do basically the same type of thing...

I don't think a full list would fit in a Steam forum comment, even if using wildcards where applicable, but all files you need to know what are for the purposes you're explaining in the opening post should be VTF (textures/images, editable with plug-ins for certain image editors, a command-line tool included with many Source games (and Source FilmMaker), or VTFEdit,[nemesis.thewavelength.net] which I recommend) and VMT (materials, editable with plain text editors like Notepad or Notepad++). MDL, VVD, and DX90.VTX files are also crucial, but all you need to know about them is that they should exist.

Although Source FilmMaker does not use them, you may also want to know about QC files and SMD models and/or DMX models. Source FilmMaker can export and import DMX (and maybe SMD) animations, and Source FilmMaker sessions are stored as DMX files, so Source FilmMaker technically uses DMX (and maybe SMD) files, but not the model types of the files.

Like I said, I'm fully aware of that tutorial by Pte Jack and will use it onc I become quite familiar with the file formats, which you so graciously explained to me in detail.

Thank you, @Zappy.

The guide I linked to covers everything you need to know for this, though.
