What is the point of "Skip"?

"Reroll" is greatly useful late game if you know what items you want.
"Banish" is like a last resort fallback for when/if you run out of "Rerolls". You hope you don't have to use it and waste a level-up, but if you do then thank God it's there.

Maybe I'm just dumb. (I totally am BTW. I'm phug'n stupid.)
What is the point of "Skip"?
I don't get it.
Why would you take experience over leveling up when you NEED EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO LEVEL UP? And we're talking about a game that is all about leveling up.

Since pretty much everyone here is too much of an insecure snowflake baby to give me an academic answer, The best I can infer is that MAYBE you get your XP added toward your next Level-Up. So you don't have to take a item you don't want and instead get an ~50% boost at arriving at your next chance to get an item that you do want.
(I've already explained why this is unnecessary and redundant in the games current state)

Also i'm pretty sure a guy who could only barely beat a curse 2 bone zone run could probably use a skip....

Reading their responses, I have a feeling like they're just trolling for the sake of it. An early-mid game player probably wouldn't have 40 hours in the game. So they probably know better. They're acting like levels are finite. If you don't want an item, what's 3 more seconds to get the right one? lol Sure if you could only have 30 level up in the entire game, I could see people being stingy about skipping a level, but what's 6 skipped levels when there's anywhere from 100 to 300 additional level ups per game...

As for the utility of skip, it's easy.

You banish first (if you definitely don't want that in your run). Then you reroll. Then you use skips if the RNG is being annoying, or you just didn't want to grab that item YET for some reason. It's not like levels are in limited supply, so the half a dozen passes can be handy.

It's pretty much for last resort when you have already used up your Banish and Reroll.
Why not just add more Banish? Because Banish is just that powerful and would make certain things too reliable. Even with the current 3 you can pretty much always make sure to get the passive you want since 5 pick slots + 3 removes means there's very little RNG left.

Skip does come in quite handy if you really want to play a very specific build instead of going with a reasonably good combination of what is on offer.

There's always a certain risk to it, and I'd say on average taking the gamble probably makes your build worse, but then again, if it also leads to being able to play your favorite builds more often (or if it allows you to get exactly the tools you need to kill death), then I'm sure for many that's a trade-off they're willing to take.

OP escalated quickly though. I think there's something wrong with their mental health. They definitely should not *skip* their meds this often.

Between all the skips, banishes, and rerolls you can nearly guarantee particular builds right now. Once items are added that may change, but skip is great just for that.

It's also a mechanism at high level to get fast xp if you're going for a level 200 run on Toastie. Depending on how you play it.

When you are trying to get teragisu and you have all 5 passive slots filled and all 6 weapons maxed and still you don't get the damn drop skip is your last resort hopefully grab it after 3 attempts... not that if you failed up to that point you'll suddenly get any luckier but it's an attempt.
