Amusingly I just checked back here after thinking my game had frozen again, but it turned out it only froze for about 5ish seconds before resuming. It's the first hiccup I've had since trying this solution and it was after opening up a new large area on Koboh.
I'm fairly confident the solution works, though whether it's temporary still remains to be seen. While it does work, and I'm ignoring my own advice, just remember that changing priority of applications can still cause issues. That can be just as easily fixed by reverting the change though.
I just don't see how this could be the solution honestly. I have a feeling I'd try it and it worked fine until I got to the "birds" and crash like everyone else. I haven't even gotten to the 2nd planet yet.
1. turning off Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling
2. turn/disable off both overlays for EA/Origin and Steam
3. Performed a restart, then launched the game from my Nvidia launcher with optimal settings, which differs per system.
There's something really effed with this game. I "optimized" my game on Geforce experience and it set everything on 4K Epic and FSR disabled and it's running smoother than it did with FSR set to Quality. So basically I'm running at 4K native with max settings and I'm getting 80 to 110 fps on Koboh. I don't wanna go back to Jedha since I was crashing non stop there but if I'm right, FSR is friggin' just straight-up broken. Like it actually reduced performance.
Yea agreed its broken and my optimal settings in Nvidia experience is also max settings, but at 3440 x 1440p and I'm currently playing at native with FSR2 off as well. Its surprisingly buttery smooth atm and no stuttering included.
Update: Now it's got to the point where it crashes at the exact same spot every time. When he say's "Greez's place should be somewhere round here" and it cuts to the cutscene / vista.
Screw it, going to try going to go real time.... Here goes nothing.
Update Update: Realtime instantly froze the game. But I set it to "high" and turned every single graphics setting to low / off (including motion blur etc). this finally let me through the cutscene. Then I wen't back the save point and turned the graphics back up. Seems to be working ok so far :).
edit: turned off RT. Not much reflections on Jedha anyway. everything still on 4K Epic no FSR. Crashes just happen on the Jedha base. Outside of the base, it works... for now at least.
This worked!
There was a moment at a certain base (don't want to spoil), where my game kept crashing (about 6-8 hours in). Setting to realtime stopped the crashing. Thank you for suggestion!
