So it will most likely get fixed :P
But jokes aside Unreal Engine is just a tool, you can do good and bad with it - optimization is all about making efficient assets and scripts with it. I also wouldn't call it the most optimized engine out there either, it's very bloated. That title would probably go to ID Tech7 used in Doom Eternal.
The game would probably look better and run a lot better if they had switched to UE5 during development but they were probably too far along for it to be viable.
Though you might think Respawn with a strong reputation for developing high-quality first-person shooters for PC.. hmm, that theory might not be so far fetched if you consider that Sony loaned dev teams for The Callisto Protocol also. (that was my first refund this year)
