PC needs to adapt this new tech first (like Direct Storage and GPU upload heaps) so we don't need to brute force games with insane CPU power and TB of RAM.
One or two game can be an exception but if nearly all of them have similar problems then there is a trend that has a reason.
Not really.
The PS4 was in the GPU tier, around a GTX 660 2GB (from 2012)
The PS4 released in 2013.
I actually dare say, that the PS4 was more powerful (if we look at the avarage PC back then) compared to what the PS5 is today.
The only real perk for PS5 was its new SSD, they did some wonderful work there, but you know tech.. it changes everyday, what you get today is ancient tomorrow and since consoles keep same hardware for 7-10 years (with a few times minor upgraded more costly rereleases like the pro) it is pretty fast, that even entry level (or lower) new gen PC´s get better.
The perk about consoles is that they are a very easy accessable entertainment system, great for family fun as well (also for solo play ofc, no need to have kids to use it!!!!) Games don´t outgrow it, it keeps at the same level (that is why console games look super dated after a few years, compared to PC)
I reckon most people and families, have many different platforms, PC and Consoles included (we do here)
I applaud 👏 for you folks great 👍 job defending these companies hopefully they will give you some free collectors edition for free fingers crossed.
I will stick to my opinion and wait for the game when it is fully polished and free of denuvo
1. Cheap labor, instead of getting senior experieneced devs, they ought to get less experieneced ones to save money, and some even are outsourcing to cheap labor countries with unguaranteed work quality.
2. Games are primarily optimized for consoles hardware, they tweak the GPU and CPU resources until they hit the target fps and call it a day, PC comes as an after thought, they start throwing the extra features and goodies, and rely on better hardware to comprnsate the lack of optimization, but as of late, even the most advanced hardware cannot compensate the crappy coding, thus they hit a wall and either to release it in a bad shape and optimize later or delay it several months for optimization, but we all know which one they always choose.
3. People pulling the strings and making decisions are far off from being gamers and technical, devs dont have a say on whether to release or not, all of those suits know is how to make revenues and get bonuses, so if the game is somehow playable regardless of how bad it runs, they would go for release, they think releasing it in such a bad shape will close the sales target and can call it a day regardless of backlash or anything else and this can work sometimes, look at hogwarts legacy, the game runs like garbage but playable, its mostly positive and sold many millions that the management team doesnt care about optimization anymore,no more patches and the game is still running like crap.
4. The most important reason is customers, as long as they keep buying such broken games, there are no incentive to revamp and rectify the process by these companies, so its the customers to blame first, its a trend now, they preorder or buy it early although they got bitten by another broken game and then comes here to complain, this wont do anything as the company has already sold the copies and this is considered revenues, they dont give a slightest damn about people complaints as there are other staff to handle it.
All new consoles are relatively powerful compared to their previous generation.
So is most PC hardware if you consider 5~10 year cycles.
The problem isnt tech, its devs specifically developing those games with console in mind and PC being an afterthought. The core of these devs are the ones that make games that are big on Playstation or are exclusives.
I have seen a few dozen of Visual Novels (made by JP devs, who tend to be notoriously behind when it comes to PC development) that had UI's that were more in depth and better designed with PC in mind, even from a technical perspective.
Why? Well because those devs designed their games with PC in mind. They weren't ignoramus when it comes to mouse friendly UI's or exploiting the benefits of using a mouse & keyboard when it comes to navigating menus or inventories etc.
Console centric development is why games like for example Dragon Age 2 & Inquisition had very terrible UI's that worked poorly on PC and didnt make much use of KB & M despite Dragon Age Origins being designed for PC.
A lot of console centric devs might be skilled at gameplay or visuals, but they suck at making good UI's and also performance optimizing their games tbh. Because designing for consoles is easier.. they just dont try as hard to calibrate it like Garrus would.
I own stocks in both EA and Take-Two, Microsoft, Paradox, (Tencent via investor group) and Activision Blizzard.
With that being said, I am actually annoyed about the quality of the ports to PC, its not acceptable tbh.. Investment wise, its perfectly fine for me that people mass consume.
I am not defending my companies (yes I said my companies and for obvious reasons) but like with anything else, I can´t change how people think or handle their economical aspects.
These are probably the same people who b!tch when a game doesn't have support for their $1000 ultrawide monitor that's on the same desk where they have a dedicated space for all of their empty moldy cups.
its just...cheaper business to make something for console, and attempt a port over to PC, rather then make for PC first. That said games made for PC do tend to work better. But ported games often require some patches, or some longer term support to get into an acceptable state to play.
its been like this for a few years, and it will probably get worse.
Your best bet is to either stop buying at launch(nevermind the bozos upset about prices or preorders) And wait a few weeks for the inevitable day 1 patch, or few patches. Or just get it on console.
And my 4090 does a great job, it's super heavy and my paper never flys away when there is a strong breeze.
Because ppl still buy broken games on release or even preorder digital games....so publisher and devs dont give a ♥♥♥♥. Dlss will fix it for them the ceo already got his bonus trololol.
I knew this game will be broken. FO was not that great either on PC and console (survivor on console is garbage too) and with EA sniffing up your butt you can bet they have to release it no matter what.
