How do equipment stats work?
Why does some clothing show stats such as charisma as a percentage or out of a total? (3/3, 9/9 etc.) while others just display a straight number (typically significantly higher)? I don't understand why me putting on clothing with 3/3 and 23 charisma, gives me 6, and why the clothing that states 3/3 charisma (+3 in comparison) reduces my charisma when equipped?

As far as I can tell, there is no way to see an explanation of how the stats add up.

it depends wich layer it is and how dirty it is

Okay, but that doesn't explain any of the things I mentioned, nor does it explain how those effects are displayed. For example, boots that display in the comparison +3 charisma, while it reduces the charisma stat.

finally some actual discussion

yeah, im little bit confused as well. i have gear with 21 and 16 charisma.

they both all repaired and clean. but the gear with 16 charisma get my character charisma up than the one with 21 charisma.

Ok, I don't get it either.

Charisma, visibility, and all these stats, are based on the average value of what's currently visible on your character.

So, if you wear an amazing armor, and cover it with a coat; its values won't be used at all since it's hidden under your coat.

Some items do partial covering, and that also changes the weight of your partially hidden item in the formula.

But basically : it's the average value of what's visible.
Another factor you maybe need to consider is the quality of the piece (the 1, 2 and 3 behind its name) and what is underneath. I made this quick video.

The long gambeson covering everything, charisma rises
if i cover it completly with chainmail - the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ charisma faktor from that is the only thing counting
if i use a smaller chainmail, also some factors from the gambeson are counting, so you get a higher charisma count
if you cover everything with really high quality coat, only the coat counts

oooorrrrr maybe you shouldnt mix noble clothes with peasant clothes..... whats the point of you having a noble hood if you wear begger pants.....with holes (-_-)

p.s. naturally i will look at you and thin "this guy is a
simpleton".

thats great, but why do the numbers that appear as a 'comparison' not reflect that?

I still don't understand why I can be comparing equipment, and it says it does something but equipping the item doesn't follow that, and not necessarily only the magnitude, but whether its even a positive or a negative.

I look at the end result. If you click on the clothing before actually equipping it, it will tell you the change. And after you hit 30 in charisma it is hardly relevant anymore.

I have 3 outfits: fast diplomat, rogue and heavy combat. Some of the diplo and combat use same pieces. rogue is a completely separate one and I keep it dirty.

As mentioned prior, there are boots that I have, where when I click on the clothing, it states + 3 charisma in blue. Equipping them reduces my charisma.

so it reduces charisma because they arent fancy boots i took a long time to figure it all out im still trying to figure out why a short gambson is less gold but better stats than a long but ive for sure figured out charisma is for talking and walking around town just keep your plus 3 boots on a different outfit without armor anyways by now you learn boots barely give you stats and plus 3 isnt much to stress about its not plus 3 to your whole charisma its plus 3 to the total of your outfit charisma goes up with all the different clothing pieces you wear and it can go down if you have armor on noble cloths basicly they telling you to make a solid outfit bruh ... MATCHING... haha
boots with 3 charisma doesn't mean that they will add 3 to your charisma
It means that those boots have a charisma value of 3.
If your charisma without the boots is higher than 3, they will reduce your overall charisma.
If your charisma without the boots is lower than 3, they will raise your charisma.

When you see an item with a charisma value of 9/9, that means that the charisma value is 9 and it is currently at full charisma.
If it is dirty or damaged, it will show the current charisma value and the charisma value that it would have if clean and in perfect condition, eg 7/9.
