Even 'practice' with Tomcat always destroys my health, so I always have to sleep the rest of the day.
As for the camera.. yeah... that is absolutely awful. It's the opposite issue the previous game had where it was nigh impossible to switch targets, now it's too easy to lose lock, lmao.
But a little tip with the perfect block mechanic, just pay attention to when you hit the button vs when the shield pops up. That'll tell you what you're doing wrong, as it said in the tutorial it's all in the timing.
The problem with letting him fight back is that the practice fight doesn't turn out to be a practice fight. You will finish with zero health.
I almost feel patronizing giving combat tips because its all so obvious but:
- Attack the unarmored parts, you can end fights against armored people in two strikes if you stab them in the armpit or slash their face.
-Combos are good but a waste of stamina until you have high stats imo, I just do single strikes (sometimes double) usually baiting the enemy to attack back so I can parry and riposte. Until you unlock masterstrike/high stamina I would only combo after a successful opening strike.
-Do not riposte after every parry, enemies are a lot better at doing combos and masterstrikes than they were in KCD1 so not only will you take more damage but you'll waste stamina because they're better at blocking too. Instead, wait until they finish their string and riposte the last attack.
-Group fights are 100% footwork and stamina control. Try and corral the group into a hallway or between rocks, and do your best to keep archers behind your enemies. Sometimes I'll beeline towards the archers and force them into melee combat. Focusing the lighter armored combatants since they go down faster and usually after you kill a few the rest give up. The intimidation system is deeper in this game too I've had a lot of success with taunts/battlecries after you kill someone in a group getting the others to give up.
The combo in this version of the game is literally left clicking three times.
Armored opponents are supposed to be challenging or near impossible to defeat considering you get to loot their equipment if you win, and add to the immersion of the difference between knights and farmers with swords.
Red shield means no block, can happen when an opponent uses the stupid 'master strike' technique that for some reason only swords get.
