Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

İstatistiklere Bak:
Combat really needs some after-launch polish
First of all: Why does neither tutorials nor help mention anywhere what the red shield icon indicates? Too late? Too weak? I don't get the mechanics. Could be anything. Sometimes I just see a red shield, no green one before. The mechanics are plain confusing. The game doesn't tell you what the problem is. I spent an hour now picking a bandit camp one by one just to get stomped over and over again by an amored guy. I managed to break his shield once, I hit him with several bolts, yet the combat indicators are confusing and I always get smashed.

Beyond that the camera often goes nuts which ends in disoriented confused mouse juggling lowering your chances as well. And if it's not this, then the 20 times misses on average you do due to terrain / enemy height differences. Like wolves are almost invincible because you miss them most of the time. An enemy kneeling down to surrender: Can't hit that.

I get it, it's launch and besides some NPCs running on the spot due to navigation issues I haven't had much issues yet. But I really feel like combat needs a bit more polish here and there.

Sounds like you have bad skill. Just practise. The game is atleast 10x better than KCD1 in combat. It should be no problem for you to play it.
How do you beat tomcat then when he can masterstrike you? Are you meant to come back after 20 hours of killing bandits when you might be strong enough to get a hit in?
I agree. The trainer should train you for the real fights, not the other way round.
Even 'practice' with Tomcat always destroys my health, so I always have to sleep the rest of the day.
People are just playing this to get to the sex. They dont even know how to do any combat xD
So not understanding the shield icon is 100% a skill issue as it's pretty easy to tell that it's signifying a mistimed block assuming you paid attention when you were doing the tutorial that told explicitly how it was supposed to work if you're doing it right. I end up messing it up all the time and hitting it just before the shield pops up and it does that to me. But I have to agree the combat itself is somehow more frustrating this time around.

As for the camera.. yeah... that is absolutely awful. It's the opposite issue the previous game had where it was nigh impossible to switch targets, now it's too easy to lose lock, lmao.

But a little tip with the perfect block mechanic, just pay attention to when you hit the button vs when the shield pops up. That'll tell you what you're doing wrong, as it said in the tutorial it's all in the timing.
I think having a training dummy might have been a good thing.

Honestly, yeah, now that you mention it, it is quite baffling that there aren't any.

There is one. Kinda. You can fight Tomcat without him hitting back. It can advance your strength and agility very slowly, but I doubt you will learn much.

The problem with letting him fight back is that the practice fight doesn't turn out to be a practice fight. You will finish with zero health.

I mean, there's a big "Help" option in the pause menu, the game directs you there several times. If you don't think to look at the help menu to find out about a mechanic you don't know, that's on you.

Yeah I came back after I had like 10 sword skill and full armor (not good armor, just almost every slot filled) and clapped him up in the masterstrike duel.

I almost feel patronizing giving combat tips because its all so obvious but:

- Attack the unarmored parts, you can end fights against armored people in two strikes if you stab them in the armpit or slash their face.

-Combos are good but a waste of stamina until you have high stats imo, I just do single strikes (sometimes double) usually baiting the enemy to attack back so I can parry and riposte. Until you unlock masterstrike/high stamina I would only combo after a successful opening strike.

-Do not riposte after every parry, enemies are a lot better at doing combos and masterstrikes than they were in KCD1 so not only will you take more damage but you'll waste stamina because they're better at blocking too. Instead, wait until they finish their string and riposte the last attack.

-Group fights are 100% footwork and stamina control. Try and corral the group into a hallway or between rocks, and do your best to keep archers behind your enemies. Sometimes I'll beeline towards the archers and force them into melee combat. Focusing the lighter armored combatants since they go down faster and usually after you kill a few the rest give up. The intimidation system is deeper in this game too I've had a lot of success with taunts/battlecries after you kill someone in a group getting the others to give up.

How do I stab their armpits or face? There’s no mechanic for that unless they have no helmet or arm armor on
has anyone else noticed how unarmored bandits sometimes are justas tanky as armroed ones? slashing them across the belly or face should kill them much faster, or make them bleed much more. it kills the imersion when i die faster then them when i have plate and i have full body covered in mail and plate armor. but they only have a tunic and a rusty hunting sword.
Since used to the combat from KcD1 I found the combat so far not a problem in KcD2

One of the tutorials says that sword fighting is a constant back and forth. I've had one on one fights take literally 30 minutes without the other guy taking any damage and every mistake I do gets punished by half my healthbar.
I guess I don't get this new system. The system in KCD1 was so good though, I loved it.
I've also not been able to pull off a single combo outside training because every enemy knows how to counter me
I have the same experience. And you're already better than me. I couldn't even get a combo in training. I finally got one by accident by flailing my sword around.

The combo in this version of the game is literally left clicking three times.
Use Tab to lock on to opponents. New combat system is frustratingly watered down, less complexity doesn't mean easier or more fun.

Armored opponents are supposed to be challenging or near impossible to defeat considering you get to loot their equipment if you win, and add to the immersion of the difference between knights and farmers with swords.

Red shield means no block, can happen when an opponent uses the stupid 'master strike' technique that for some reason only swords get.
I'm loving the new combat system. KCD1 system was trash and all you had to do is press one button to win. The red shield icon mean you pressed block either too early or too late. You guys are just trash. Sit and practice with tomcat.

Cool bait man, it's the same system with less options.
