Beating the dead horse, in this case a grifter, is kinda stupid don't you think?
That's because the Roman Catholic Church is less of a religious entity and more of a political one. It's objectively a brilliantly-designed system of social engineering that promotes good behavior in the masses while appealing to human sensibilities. Every group that makes society run gets a patron saint (yay inclusivity), human failings are met with human solutions benefiting the church (indulgences), and the threat of purgatory ensured that the wealthy, who often do not become wealthy by being good people, feel guilty enough to give back to society in their old age. The way Rome reacted to reformers like Jan Hus backs up my assertion that Roman Catholicism is primarily political.
Pure Christianity is not profitable, and Jesus never had anything kind to say towards the rich. The Roman Catholic Church, however, became incredibly wealthy, and its excesses are what spawned the Gutenberg Bible (so that the commoners could read the Word for themselves), Martin Luther, who was a devout monk that noted 95 things the Church was doing that conflicted with Christ's instructions, and Jan Hus, who is mentioned in this game. Rome eventually burned him at the stake.
Quality post indeed!
It does not really take Christianity very seriously - it has a fighting priest (Like Father Tuck in the story of Robin Hood) and a lot of other things, that might sound blasphemous.
If You expect this to be like the story of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe - You will be very disappointed.
That story starts with Robinson defying his wise father and the turning point is where Robinson suffers visions during his illness and seeks solution in trying to be a good and virtuous Christian to survive.
And I have seen nothing of it in my experience with KCD or KCD2
Yes it is, very forced anti Christian propaganda
I this is said as objectively as possible and I agree with most all of it. Kudos for bringing up how it's more of a political entity as opposed to a religious or pious one. This is why Catholics can still be atheist.
Organizations, if I dare call Catholicism that, provide a community for those looking to belong to a group. Humans have thrived due to congregating within social groups, alone we would face extinction by now.
I enjoyed your comment about Jesus never had anything kind to say towards the rich. You're absolutely right, matter of fact, Jesus spoke more of hell and eternal suffering more than any profit in the bible. And what a valuable teaching that was, strike fear into the minds of the rich.
To expand upon it further, Romans were feuding with Jews and uprisings were causing major issues for Rome's usurpation of the holy land. What better way to undermine those uprising by using a ploy to divide and conquer. And that's exactly what happened in 66ad. Violent uprising happened and Jews lost, the 2nd temple destroyed. The rest is history.
With that being said, I'm sure a man named Jesus or a variant of the name "Yeshua" Hebrew's equivalent to "Joshua" probably existed. Whether or not he was a god or a son of God is highly subjective depending on your cultural upbringing.
Your comment brings up an interesting topic. It also keeps an open mind to all venues of thought without offending logical minded people. It's ok to be religious and to practice what one wishes to practice, no pork? Fine by me, but don't force me to not eat port or judge me for doing so. I say that generally and not aimed at you Danzoprozole.
Hopefully these sorts of comments can open one's mind, not to sway ones thinking, but to be conducive in understanding in fairness and belonging within a community as a whole.
No, because clearly there's a lot to say on the subject. It wouldn't be any different in people discussing WW2. There's still tons of stories being told that I've yet to learn about. For instance, a new movie coming out produced by Tyler Perry. I never knew there was an entire battalion of black women soldiers in America. Regardless what you may think on that subject or what label you want to put on it, it's still fascinating and is knowledge.
Try having an open mind. You don't have to learn about everything under the sun, but just understand others may want to discuss things they're passionate about that you get annoyed with. And vice versa.
The name of God used to actually command some respect, so it's quite dumb that nearly every NPC will mock Jesus.
I think there was also an encounter implying that main protagonist is devil himself. It was related to the game of dice in some ways.
Oh, and then there was encounter with a person offering You to sell his soul to save his relative from illness. I took his offering but did not get any quest mark to heal anyone.
At the same time You have option to pay for indulgency near churches, I saw options to go on pilgrimage, and stuff like that.
You can kill a bunch of crusaders and then wear their armor also, I believe.
its not a sin to watch but it is one to do the deed...also if you touch yourself then thats also a sin,so regardless you're screwed
that´s why we love it
If this isnt just a troll , I will give you a serious answer. This is a realistic protrayal of the time period, yes many are cursing and such as they are commoners and dont have access to the bible. However ingame you can do penance for sins , reciting the apostles creed at shrines. You also can get buffs when you get the theology perk by praying the Our Father and Hail Mary at other shrines. How many games have that ?
Just as in life the game gives you free will. You can be a devout catholic knight or you can be a lukewarm brigand. Henry adapts to your playstyle and choices as do the peasantry in the towns.
Just remember noone is perfect, we all sin everyday. Its the heart posture that has significance, do you embrace sinful behaviour or reject it and ask forgiveness? I love this game, not many like it and yes thats with warts and all.
