The controversy surrounding the romantic relationship between Hans and Henry exists only in Western societies, primarily in the USA.
It is a fact that the relationship between Hans and Henry has sparked debates exclusively in U.S.-centric Western societies. On Chinese social platforms, no one criticizes their relationship based on historical accuracy.

There are also many Chinese players who like Hans, but their perspective differs from that of Western societies. Even if male players have fallen for Hans in their hearts, they tend to view Hans as a princess rather than immersing themselves in a gay male perspective. Female players, on the other hand, are similar to their Western counterparts—they love Hans from their own personal identities.

In contrast, Western societies tend to think this way: if you want to praise the relationship between Hans and Henry, your prerequisite must include accepting that they are a gay couple, and what you admire is the relationship between two men.

In English-language commentary, I have yet to see anyone refer to Hans as a princess.

I am not sure what causes this difference, but I feel that U.S.-centric Western societies are overly focused on cultural wars. Concepts like identity politics and representation have been weaponized and are being overused, leading to two outcomes: supporters treat KCD2 as a symbol of victory, disproportionately exaggerating the homosexual love between Hans and Henry; opponents, on the other hand, see KCD2 as a betrayal, a compromise to the enemy. Since they cannot conveniently express outright hatred toward homosexuality, they resort to questioning historical accuracy, the characters’ actual ages, and, of course, some openly attack homosexuality without disguise.

In China, things are much simpler. Heterosexual male players can just think of Hans as a princess to enjoy the intimacy between the two characters. Since homosexuality does not spark controversy, there are naturally no follow-up debates over historical accuracy or the issue of underage characters.

Interesting.

People discovered one could make big money with being a supposed victim of other people.
This happens because far too many people who don't play the game have to give their opinion on it. You don't have the game either and are starting a debate here. WHY?
Just to provoke? Just to get points? Except for a few Trump supporters, no one really cares about the topic.

I didn’t purchase it on Steam. I’ve already completed it three times and played for over 240 hours.

In the Chinese community, KCD2 is purely a topic for players, and no one thinks there’s an issue with homosexuality.

However, in the English community, since many people are attacking it, I naturally feel the urge to express my opinion. It’s the cultural atmosphere that drives me to do so.

IDGAF what the Chinese think. Why would I? I'm sure the social platforms are not monitored and censored. Give me a break.

This "controversy" is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. The game is individual and presents options, so the romance between Henry and Hans exists or does not exist depending on who plays. What emerges from all this is that there are people who are dissatisfied with the fact that people who have different interests than them have this option available. It is not enough for them to have their own option to play, they want others not to have this and that can only be called hatred.

At the verry least we have gotten so manny new alternatives to "i'm not xenophobic, i just don't like politics (mere existence of minorities is political)".

In addition, we used to have "woke", "DEI", and "abnormal", but now they can say it is ahistorical or retconning instead (and they ofcoruse get to decide that the mere existence of minorities is ahistorical and retconning. Actual history and writing practices be damned). So manny alternatives to thinly veiled xenophobia.

Variety is the spice of life as they say.

"supporters treat KCD2 as a symbol of victory," they're only "treating" it that way to troll the trolls. It's basically a trolling competition. You're taking the centrist position in that competition, and it's the first time I've seen it. Nice one.

It might have something to do with China's disastrous policy on children, which resulted in more men than women.

At any rate, my only issue is that focusing on ticking those woke checkboxes resulted in the story having a noticeable drop in quality compared to KCD. There are multiple moments where the events in the story would never happen. They were added solely to promote woke ideology, and they instantly destroy any hint of immersion.
The events in kcd1 would never happen either, it's a cartoon game ....

Pretty accurate description.
all what missing in this endless homophobics 'debate" was some nationalism,
good job, blocked too regardless you seems to think to have good intentions

It has nothing to do with this; the correlation is 0%.
