Did they fix the combat?
The first game had, without hyperbole, the worst first person melee combat I have ever seen in my life. And I've played Breakdown on the original Xbox (excellent game btw, just clunky first person melee). However I simply cannot play the first KCD at all with such bad combat. But everything else about the game was amazing. I really hope they fixed it for this game and made it actually FUN.

To those saying "skill issue" and that the combat "was just fine", you know the combat can be made easy to play but difficult to master, right? Instead they made the combat difficult to play, very difficult to master. And that's not fun.

Combat was actually a strong point for the game. It is not that hard to be honest.

The combat had quite steep learning curve but once you mastered it fights were actually very enjoyable. The only thing that never got better was combat against multiple opponents.

It didn't make sense and was clunky as hell. Told my friend this who was pretty much at the end game, so he streamed to me while he went to find bandits. got his ass kicked. Nah, the combat was by far the worst part.

Sounds like your friend sucked at the game. At end game I remember soloing 3-4 bandits.

If you think the combat system is bad by default, you likely weren't good at it and didn't practice enough or understand it. Just like the game starts you out: you won't be good at anything; you're a peasant.

Clearly a skill issue. Not joking. Not hating.

Didn't like it in the beginning as well until it clicked. Hope they built upon that system and enhance it properly with historical techniques to fight multiple enemies. It lacked fluidity, but in the end it was good for 1:1 fights.
there was nothing to fix in combat. if u couldnt fight its on you . combat in this game was brutal if u didnt learned how to fight that how it should be !

They said it's been changed... but don't provide any specifics. So have to wait an see.

Combat in KCD1 is perfectly doable as long you keep Bernard's lessons in mind for basic swordplay, and realize that the combo (False Edge) he teaches you at the end of his lessons is the single most important combo in the game to do against opponents who are advanced and well-armored swordfighters. Landing that combo (False Edge) does stun your opponent for a bit, which should you give enough time to get one of your learnt combos in to usually end the fight. Landing combos without doing a False Edge first is nearly impossible, unless the opponent is heavily armored while being a poor fighter with whatever weapon he is holding. (Which is a combination that barely ever happens) Last of all, if you see two or more opponents approach you with lances / spears even when they are peasants, just RUN. No matter how good of a knight you are, a bunch of peasants with dinkly spears WILL ♥♥♥♥ your knightly posterior up, in an accurate bout of historical accuracy.

Combat was great on 1-1 but more people felt like rubber band a few times. Still was great. If they iterate on it and make it more smooth, it'll be great.

Not every game needs combos and backflips. Better than the usual ubislop combat.

the fighting in kcd 1 was just hard, but once you learned it is very good , just had to repeat train-do fights and it becomes very intresting

That's actually a very good point! He teaches you for a reason and if you keep training like he says and remember the lessons you'll have a great time!
