I'm feeling old too, so I get what you're saying. Been a Miku fan & PjD player since the first 3 PSP games and, even though I had a PS3 back then, it died just when I was about to buy the Dreamy Theater versions. Never bought another console after that. So yeah, really glad this came to PC. It felt great coming back to the series, feeling lika a noob because of the new mechanics.
Even though DDR had a similar feel to PjD when using a pad, I was more into the PS2 GuitarFreaks&drummania games.
Can't help you about that VP glitch problem, since I haven't had that happen to me. Sorry.
