Having the same issue. Launching the game briefly (for like a millisecond) opens a window that immediately closes.

Compiling a map in hammer and launching the game through the compiler options keeps the game open for a few seconds longer before it does the same thing.

I finally solved it. Not sure if your problem is the same, but the last time I opened it, I was using a larger monitor. I plugged that monitor back in and it works fine now. I'm not sure if there's a way to set the resolution outside of the game. There was nothing in the cfg file about screen resolution.
