Stomp, punch and shooting enemy "blades" useless?
I just don't get it, punching enemies deals literally no damage, sometimes they don't even stagger, stomping on them is also bad since they just attack me if I even try to finish them off on the ground and not to mention the pathetic small hitbox of the foot, shooting the blade knife hands or whatever the enemies have at enemies deal literally NO damage, I have not killed a single enemy by doing that, am I missing something? Is there an upgrade that magically make this actually viable?

Cut off their limbs (including shoulders and yellow/infested spots).

i know its too late, but in case anyone seeing this - melee in 1st game is the weakest in the original trilogy, but it still does damage. From my experience you need around 20 hits for a regular base enemy (on hard or impossible difficulty? dont remember). You can freely try it out at the start of the game where you fight 1v1, and have plenty of rooms with constant stasis supply. Hitting enemy in stasis stagger it so you wont get retaliation, most likely. Also, I guess the game gives melee hit not to deal damage but to push a necro away, they can also block the punch and counterattack too, if not slowed
