Dead Space (2008)

Dead Space (2008)

Can't find 'c:\Users\My Name\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts'
I can navigate all the way down to 'Local', following the path above. I am trying to change the Dead Space settings.txt file, but I can't get to it.

I am running Windows 8.1

I have tried launching the game from Steam a number of times, only to he given an error about failed display hardware or something, and all my drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know why my Electronics Arts folder doesn't exist?

The game probably didnt install correctly, go to game properties and verify the game cache and if that doesnt work try reinstalling the game.

All files were successfully verified, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Sadly, the folder still doesn't show up.

Oddly, the Dead Space file in Program Files (x86) is there, and always has been since my first attempt. I just can't work out why this issue is occuring, especially since no one else seems to have encountered, or documented, this bug before.

Also, if I can ask, where is your Electronic Arts folder, which contains the Dead Space settings.txt file? I noticed you also run Windows 8.1 in another thread, I believe.

It's in local folder like where its supposed to be, I'm guessing the file is created when the game is launched but since you cant do that, i'm not really sure how you would be able to change it. You could try doing a complete reinstall of the game by deleting the folder from the program files (since steam sometimes keeps the folder there even when uninstalled) and any saves from the documents folder (if you have any). Also are you running any overlays like fraps, or afterburner that might also cause the game to not start.

This will probably fix your problem, create the Electronics Arts folder and in it the Dead Space folder and create the settings.txt file using his settings and place it in the Dead Space folder, hopefully it works for you. http://steamcommunity.com/app/17470/discussions/0/846942156145836438/
