Dead Space (2008)

What happened to Kendra's hair?
It has become infinitely long, waving across the screen wherever she walks. And I cannot get past the door after the first escape. Changing different settings did not help. Any suggestions?

The door issue is fixed by capping your frames.

Cap fps to 144 or less.
The door is simply a matter of V-Sync. Framerate doesn't really matter. Just don't enable it in-game or you will be capped to 30 FPS.

V-sync is absolutely required or physics will completely flip out, scripts will break (like the door) etc. But I am playing the game at 200 FPS with V-Sync without issues (other than very minor physics bugs here and there).

Easy to enable with NVidia, but not sure about AMD users

Thanks guys, but I tried v-sync on and off, 60fps or more, and it does not help. Maybe I should try capping?

Do you have NVidia or AMD GPU? If NVidia, just enable V-Sync for Dead Space.exe in the Nvidia control panel and turn it off in-game. Started playing 2 days ago and worked perfectly for me.

If AMD, I can't help you there but I remember reading/hearing that it doesn't really work with AMD so you might be out of luck if you do have an AMD.

Then I am doubly lucky. I have Nvidia, and I got it working by changing the settings in Control Panel, instead of (only) in the game. It is working, I have my first save, and I can now experiment with different settings.
Thank you all for your tips, they are much appreciated.
