Bug immediately after picking up plasma cutter
So I start a game, get to the point where you pick up the plasma cutter, and the scripted spawn past the breakable door never actually spawns. The guy still dies like he was getting mauled, but nothing is there. I don't remember this happening ever before, and I'm playing on Windows 10 now, as opposed to 7. Since you can't save until after this point, I have to start a brand new game just to test it.

Image highlighting the issue. Since the enemy doesn't spawn, the invisible wall in front of the door cannot be crossed.

My suggestion-save the game, and start a new one

Can't save the game, as there are no saves before this.

you have to turn on v-sync, same happened to me

Can't save the game, as there are no saves before this.

Play through this part, get to the next level, and then save

Can't, because of the aforementioned invisible wall.

Good news is the v-sync allowed it to spawn, bad news is that vsync immediately drops the game to 30fps. Hopefully It won't happen again if I turn it back off, but I'll be sure to try out the same fix if something similar happens again.

Leave V-Sync as is. Go into your graphics options, and mess around with the graphics settings, until you find something you like

This is literally the most commonly complained about issue with the game.

Leave Vsync disabled in-game.

Force it on via your graphics control panel.

You will now have Vsynced 60fps and the door will work. Problem solved.

Except forcing it on an AMD card drops it down to 30fps still.

Don't be such a condescending ♥♥♥♥.

How the hell was my post in any way condescending? That is the fix. This issue is directly caused by unordinarily high frame rates (>100 fps) which break the game scripting/physics, and forcing Vsync via the GPU control panel is the best way to solve this.

Spend some time browsing this forum and you'll find countless discussions on this very same subject that will verify that.

Sorry it doesn't work for you. Works fine for every AMD GPU I've ever tried it on. *shrug*

Regardless, if it's not working for whatever reason, you can accomplish almost the same thing by using third party software to manually limit frames to <100 fps. For that matter, I'm pretty sure that functionality is built right into newer AMD drivers (since at least July '15).

You'll still get screen tearing this way, which is why I still prefer the Vsync method, but at least it will solve the door bug and allow you to play the game.

How would I know that v-sync is the issue before the problem was diagnosed? I searched "scripted enemy not spawning" and many variations of that. Nothing. I appreciate providing solutions, but coming into the thread acting like it's oh so simple, like I'm somehow wasting precious forum space with my post, is condescending.

download nvidia inspector and and limit framerate to 60
Thanks for the reply guys, helping with my problem by telling me to turn Vsync back on! :steamhappy:

Do you know if I can disable V-Sync after this bug or will it cause more problems again after this one sequence? Because I hate playing with V-Sync

There will be some problems later.
If you don't want to use VSync — use fps limiter instead.
