Windows 10?
Will Dead Space 1 or Dead Space 2 run on windows 10? I'm relatively new to PC gaming and I've heard that the PC versions of Dead space is pretty terrible but thought id ask for both games. I see that Dead Space 3 is supported by Windows 10 but that game is on Origin.

I have installed this today and played for 4-5 hours without issues except in one location mouse sensitivity jumped up very high and recovered after I walked through (Chapter 3 I think).
Dead Space 1 works perfect on Win10 after some actions.
It even supports ultrawide (21:9) display unlike some modern games. And the surround sound is amazing.
1. You need mouse fix from the Guides section - fixes mouse completely. (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=830188980).
2. Also the framerate was limited until I switched to Borderless Window. (Use Borederless Gaming app). Now I have stable 100 FPS on Ultra.
Enable VSync + antialiasing in Nvidia Control panel.
It looks and plays very good for the game from 2008!

I also tried antialiasing settings from one of the guides but it made my framerate drop from 100 to 52. Probably due to my 3440*1440 resolution. Reset it back and used nvdia settings instead.

I've heard the Dead Space port is a bad one, but thanks to some fairly easy fixes you can get it to run just fine with next to no issues on Windows 10.

If you haven't already, go watch Mandalore gaming's video on Dead Space 1. He explains how to get the game running very easily and the video itself is entertaining.

I played a bit of it, and yeah it isn't the best port, the mouse+keyboard controls are quite broken, though a controller goes well. There are fixes for the problems, but I have never tried these. I bought it on a Steam sale for next to nothing and well if I ever really want to play it again, I'll fire up the PS3 to play it again.

I was already planning on playing with a controller so the mouse issues don’t bother me too much. I’m more worried if I’ll be able to play the game without it constantly crashing, lagging/slowdowns or just not booting up at all.

That is really up to your system. Myself and many, many others play it without fault, but every computer is different and every one has different things installed, so it should but like any game it isn't a guarantee.

In terms of being able to run it I can run basically any modern title that’s out right now. I’m just worried that it won’t be compatible because of windows 10 when I meet and exceed all the other requirements for the game but I guess I should just go for it and see and if not just ask for a refund.

For anyone still having trouble getting this game to work on W10, try the PCGamingWiki page for it: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dead_Space

I got mine to work with the Mouse Fix, increased FOV, Borderless Window, and Reshade.

Make sure to have your FPS capped at 60 before you get the Plasma Cutter and after that you can have it capped at 144fps if you have a 144hz monitor. Do know that there are issues at certain points if the frame rate is above 144 though. I am using BandiCam to cap my frames to 144.

Also, with my Reshade preset I have, I still get over 70-80fps with a ton of heavy shaders, Depth3D as well. Looks amazing!
