Dead Space (2008)

Attempting to force vsync - nothing works
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get 60fps + vsync to work in this game. I've tried forcing vsync in Nvidia Control Panel, Nvidia Profile Inspector, and D3DOverride, and none of it works for me. The only way I can prevent screen tearing is to use the in-game vsync, which caps the game at 30fps. I know that the previously mentioned apps are all supposed to work for forcing vsync; is there anything that could conceivably be getting in the way?

I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop with a GTX 860M 2GB GPU, if that helps.

Same problem here, have a laptop as well. This seems to be the problem. Tried the same things as you did, nothing worked.

Go to (or search to) Nvidia Controll Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Vertical sync - select "On"! (like this: https://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2013/12/nvidia-g-sync-review/g-sync-driver.jpg ) After run the game, turn OFF ingame V-sync, and play. :)

It works for me. The bugs are caused by the FPS too high.

I eventually got this to work by running the game in windowed mode and then forcing borderless mode using Fullscreenizer. Nothing else I tried worked.

I never had any trouble forcing vsync in this game on any of the setups I have used which is quite a bit. just turning it on in the nvidia control panel has always worked even since the game first came out and I played it on an 8600gt.
Try turning on Triple buffering in your card settings.

That has absolutely nothing to do with having vsync work. And if you actually knew anything about triple buffering from the control panel then you would know that does not even work in DirectX games anyway.

EDIT: Nevermind, restarting the laptop after enabling vsync through the control panel made vsync through the cp work.

So yeah, enable it through the control panel and then restart the laptop and check if it changes, worked for me.
