I already did that with the first cannon, it worked, but it does not work for the second one. This is some kind of a glitch, so I can't pass the level, but I was wondering if there is any way to solve this.
Did a google search, suggestions were to swap weapons and fire, try again, didn't work. Another suggested that I'd taken out a alien mothaship turret before I should.
In the end, I returned to a save game to fight the 'crab boss' on the front of the aircraft carrier. Follow the voice-over girlies instructions exactly. Do not fire on crab boss until told to (and get the 'snowy' effect that tells you boss is vulnerable).
Damned good idea to have the gauss gun, that can take down the flying alien squids that harass you, in a few shots, although reload is a bit slow. Better than the mini-gun. Use the rocket laucher to take out the crab boss. There is an unlimited supply of them on the left-hand side of the dying aircraft carrier (as well as a few gauss gun re-fills). Use speed to get to them, in between the crab boss' freeze ray. I hid behind the shield in the centre of the carrier, perfectly safe.
Once the crab boss was down, run over to the left side, behind the crates where the unlimited supply of missiles are. DO NOT SAVE GAME MANUALLY!!!
Wait until told by girlie to attack turrets (and again get the snowy effect). Take them down with your never-ending missile supply. Ditto with the side-wings, and at all stages.
That worked for me. I think there is an error(s) in the end-script. You have to do everything just right, when told.
Even after doing all that, the game wouldn't let me use TAC to lock-on to the the opened hatch on the underside of the alien mothaship.
You'll know the script is broken if you aren't being constantly being attacked by the hovering grounf squids on the last stage (gauss gun is your best friend). Just reload last automatic game save. NEVER MAKE YOUR OWN SAVE.
Took a while, but I got there.
Worked, I think saving your own game stuffs up the final game script.
And, with great embarrassment, I'll admit I swapped to easy mode just to complete those final couple of bosses. I thought the end woulfd have you saving Prophet... but that's an unfinished story... and not exactly according to the graphic novels.
Took a bit of jerking around to get Crysis 1 going, no problems with Crysis 2 (half-way through that).
But I've decided Crysis 1 is the best of them, even with the clunky nano-suit control. Luckily I have long fingers, maybe because I'm used to playing bass guitar.
