There are some programs/mods without which I would not play Starfield:
- xEdit
- SFSE
- Smart Aiming SFSE - Third to First Person
- StarUI HUD + I.C.H - Immersive Combat HUD (the combination allows me to get rid of all of the pesky HUD infos, especially the annoying connection line; I need a file from the second mod to remove the xp information, sadly not possible with StarUI HUD)
Then there are mods without which the game would be much less fun:
- Linked Companion Spacesuit (unbelievable that Beth was not able to make that necessity vanilla)
- Fuel Consumption Unlocked
- Baka Limited Fast Travel
- Responsive Third Person Movement (removes the extremely stupid running start animation, such a great mod)
- Always Land on Planets - Landing Animation (seems not to work with the latest SF version, sadly, so again you are stupidly beamed out of the ship automatically into deadly surroundings by vanilla madness)
- Vanilla Flashlight Improved (as usual Beth cannot design flashlight light)
For general and combat overhaul I use
- Royal Galaxy,
a well thought out and balanced mod made by a very nice and helpful author. I made only a few game changes of it or in addition myself, mainly for Aim Model and Movement Type, especially for ships, and armor (some got much higher than vanilla), for weapons I nerfed ship particle weapons and made automatics same damage than semi-automatics.
And last but not least a special thank to modders who make clothes and visual enhancements, without which SF would remain in the boring vanilla state forever. I especially like
- KZ Gravitic Armoire and all the other high quality KZ mods
- Eit Clothiers Plus
- Enhance MInidress and the other mods by ZY20042
- Robotics Outfit
- STARQUEEN - Starfield Female Skin Textures
and many others.
I totally and completely agree with this. And besides that, it's a lot of fun and very rewarding to make your own content.
Best (and first) mod for me is the one that hides your spacesuit in breathable locations, the same way it works for companions. Everything else I use is largely fashion.
(zone79's mods in particular are great)
If only I was less stupid and understood zbrush, blender and creation kit. I would make new companions with ai voice acting and add in a bunch of armor and weapon skins.
That's true. I have some of those mods but the companion mod changed the whole game for me. I wouldn't play without it. I think the only reason they chose one companion is because of series s being unable to handle multiple companions and lots of buildings. But then I go to New Atlantis and there are npcs than cyberpunk when I step off the metro.
You are not stupid. Almost all players could learn these programmes if they wished. There is a learning curve for some of the programmes, but some dedication and perseverance will overcome that. Start with easy-to-make mods and work your way up. It's really not all that hard once you get into it. And the rewards are very lucrative in many ways.
You bet: Hide Spacesuits in Breathable Areas (HSIBA)
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/2095?tab=description
Alternately if you dont want to use Nexus, look for 'Smarter Spacesuit auto hide' in Creations. I think you'll find it in the popular section. Its got a few more features than HSIBA I think, but both work well.
For either one, make sure you have the hide spacesuit option for planets selected in your inventory to have it work.
