Got many hours in and still enjoy it. SO...
Having been a computer gamer since 1977, I can confidently assert that your opinion isn't shared by all gamers. Probably not even most gamers.
Elite Dangerous is 80% travel against a black background with intermittent white lines indicating motion, 10% infinitely barren planets, 10% spreadsheets
It's immensely boring most of the time but the story, action, and sound design make up for it
Let me enlighten you.
You have to play it right. As you head towards the tutorial mining cave you have to mutter to yourself, "fraking bossy women , spoiling my immersion", you then head to the 'lodge' and mutter, "fracking lesbian bossy women , why does everyone want to sleep with me"? Breaking my immersion. Then you head to the first POI and mutter to yourself, "fracking empty planets, breaking my immersion", then you get in your starship, (again) and mutter, "fraking loading screens breaking my immersion". After 200 hrs of this you then post a negative review. "Game full of woke and paid mods, Don't buy". Then you go on and play another 200 hrs. That will set you up nicely for the release of TES6, where you can repeat the process of 'proper' game play.
Hope this helps.
I have almost 1,400 hrs in Elite and counting. Still loving it and I've been all over the Milky Way. I suppose if I was BGS I'd say that if you found the game boring, then you're playing it wrong lol.
Seriously though, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Understandable. If humans all had the same thoughts and opinions, it would be a very boring world. I would post some awesome screenshots to make my point, but this is the SF board, so I'll hold them.
Edit - And yes, for sound effects, Elite is second to none.
I loaded up SF again just the other day to check out updates and what not.
It all came rushing back, the souless and mind numbing dialogue.
I mean right there in the opening scenes of the mine there is a huge lipsync issue, NPCs would sometimes talk to me just walking by and sometimes they don't. Literally all the controls were clunky and sometimes didn't respond. Just like on release when my friend and I tried it.
They built a lifeless game with the plan of using modders to finish it for them. Not like in past games, nope this time they're literally on the backs of modders. If they're willing to do it then great, maybe they can breathe some life into this soulless title.
