Prototype equipment
Has anyone found any use for this in the game, please? Or is it safe to sell / ignore? :lunar2019smilingpig:

Junk. Sell. Unless hovering over it tell you it can be used for crafting it's safe to sell.

If it is an crafted item it wil say so when you pick it up like with the Zero wire and those other wire spools. The prototype equipment... while sounding rather important is a non craftable item and as such it is junk. Safe to sell

Maybe it was just cooincidence but that grumpy shopkeeper with the electronic junk store in the Well seems to pay quite a bit for the prototype junk.

I'll check him out before selling! Kind of like the book shop in Akila, although that's only for the first book, of some of them.

I kept the prototypes throughout the first playthrough (only found 2-3 then), and have started gathering them again now in NG+, where I seem to find many more, so I thought maybe there was some higher level quest or something they would be used for later. I skipped most of the sidequests and faction stuff on the first playthrough.

When I first started playing, I found a lot of those power cell things in the start, which I sold, only to discover later that they were used in at least a few quests, so I thought maybe something similar would be the case for the prototype equipment.

There were workarounds for not having the power cells, though, or you could find some nearby.

Any other places that pay more than normal for some items in the game, btw?

I notice I can't sell survey data to the guy on The Eye in NG+, which was a bit disappointing. Or maybe later on. Playing the abridged version where the main quest is skipped, so that might be related.

The emporium pays top dollar for 'antiques' and executive toys, Fans.. Anything you find in 'office' clutter.

The guy running the Mining League on Neon seems to pay a little more for resources and cutters and drill bits etc.

It's bound to be set up where different places will sell lower/buy higher because 90% of space games with any kind of trading do this. Not found any lists or anything online yet. Guess people are still too busy building those item id lists.

Ah, nice! I haven't explored much of Neon yet (mainly main quest, and picked up a lot of quests I never did in first playthrough), and don't think I've even visited the Emporium yet (had to google it now), so thanks for this

Yeah, I like to discover things like that for myself normally, so I probably shouldn't have asked, but I'm eager to visit Neon again now! :steamhappy::cyberpunkbird:

I just wanted to mention that he didn't offer me any higher price for them when I visited. I haven't done the mission for the other guy in his shop yet, though, if that is relevant, but I doubt it. Did that in my first playthrough, but didn't check for this then.

I believe the shopkeeper in New Homestead, Titan, also pays well for antiques.

Noel at Constellation pays well for organic resources. Playing big game hunter on Jemison can be a nice early moneymaker.

Thanks for the tip!

Starting to get the money I need by now, but it's a bit interesting with these special vendors. Discovered a few more that says they'll pay good for minerals and such, but they haven't really been vendors, and I forgot who they were by now... :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I'm on NG+, and Noelle isn't buying materials there. Not sure if that changes later. Can't sell survey data to the guy on The Eye either.

When you say big game hunter, is there a mission or something for this on Jemison, or do you mean just roam around and shoot the wildlife?

I remember exploring a bit on that planet when I first started the first play-through, and got killed a few times :lunar2019crylaughingpig: Haven't done much exploring anywhere since, tbh. I'm close to lvl 50 now, and the weapons I have kill most things pretty instantly, so I might do some sight-seeing soon.
