game worth finishing?
i preordered this game and played it 1st week and was turned away by its boring story writing and boring voice acting.

i did the corpo faction (whatever its called) and too me it was just go and fetch and come back for another fetch quest.
it put me off even playing more, the only reason i tried to finish the faction quests is because i thought it was going to be like the thieves guild where you do stuff to benefit the company (and you do, but the dialogue is boring and just bland with how they are telling you to go fetch).

i got to the end of the faction questline and the npc that gives you the endgame reward has such ♥♥♥♥♥♥ voiceacting i just couldnt be asked finishing.

i heard people say that it takes so many hours for it to get good but does it really?

this game feels like a stepdown from bethesda storytelling i expected even good faction storys but ive told most are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and disappointing so im wondering if the main story is any good aswell?

If you're expecting a BGS game to tell you a story, you're playing the wrong game. BGS games are about your character making the story, not the story making your character. There are tons of interesting stories, big and small. You just need to lose the approach that this is yet another "choose your own adventure" video game.

I got bored playing after the first NG+, didn't see the point to replaying the exact same missions all over again and call it new.

I liked the faction quests and picking up contracts from the mission boards in between main/side quests. The main story is alright.

It doesn't sound like you like the game though. I wouldnt finish it if I were you. Let it sit in your library and maybe come back some other time. Forcing yourself to finish it will make you hate the game. Time is better spent Elsweyr.

i wrote my first response wrong.

fallout 4 is a BGS game that tells you a story, you had little to no variety in that game, i couldnt go and make another family or go and be a guard for diamond city. ill admit the story had small variety with the ending but it was just different dialogue with the same outcome.

that was BGS last singleplayer game that came out, i didnt expect the game to tell me a story i expected a game that i could do a lot of things. and there probably is things to do like be a bounty hunter or be a courier with what i saw playing this game. but the tools this game gives you to write a character are so bland and boring. the delivery missions are just radiant side quests that make you go to planets and grind till you have what you need.

if you want to rob and board peoples ships, you can but its extremely boring after the first few times. this game has been in the works since 2016 and you have little to no content than grinding and pretending you are having fun.

if you want to go to planets and be an explorer you are met with generated worlds that are pretty boring to explore and the abandon outposts are just copy and pasted with rooms moved.

i spent most my time playing this game, doing other things because thats what i was expecting to do when i was watching the pre launch trailers and interviews. as soon as i got the women npc to stay at the lounge i did and went off to neon and i did every side mission i was faced and it was just copy and pasted missions with little to none enjoyment. even the long side quests like smuggling the drug thats only allowed in neon was boring when it became a quick way to earn a small amount of credits.

skyrim was a tell your own story type of game and the side quests where cool asf and that came out a decade ago.

this game feels like a fall down the stairs from the other titles and ill even admit i had more fun playing 76 than this.

define finish? there are hundreds of quest chains, major bucket list stuff like making your dream ship, owning a fancy home and decorating it, making fancy outposts, learning the skills you want, complete scans of some planets, acquisition of the powers you want, etc.

The NPC look and feel, main story, and general role playing aspects are too heavily rehashed from skyrim... boring is subjective but there is a definite been there, done that before vibe.

the ship customisation is confusing and youll end up making an ugly ship without a guide.

dont know where you got hundres of quest chains, i did every side quest on neon i was encountered with and they all ended in 10 minutes or less.

owning a fancy home or outpost is boring, i bet the making is fun but what are you going to do besides sitting down and looking out a window.

learning the skills are ok i guess but with some questlines youll end up maxxing out a skill to get through something like sneak or fitness.

scanning generated planets would get boring after the first time.

i bet some powers are decent but getting through a boring questline doesnt make it worth it.

the npc interactions suck, i dont know what you mean about they look and feel. theres a clip on neon somewhere on yt that i experienced playing this game. where you are looking at some dude sitting down and hes just frozen still (not a bug). he was programmed to say a few lines and you walk away.

havent completed the main story and thats why i made this post to ask if its worth finishing the story.

I am feeling let down by the writing as well. For example, the First Contact questline. A really awesome idea and a cool ship to explore but it's over in 10 minutes with extremely lousy conversation choices - the quests feel very much manufactured and not natural.

Bethesda never had amazing writing but even with games like Fallout 4 with bad story atleast it had interesting companions and some side quests worth doing. In Starfield sadly everything feels really generic and not interesting. Thankfully you can skip all that and just fly around exploring planets and getting into space battles.

i purposely avoided the main story because i wanted to explore more of the world but sadly it gives really boring results and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ side quests.

im so glad i stopped playing when i did because i was at the start of the side quest where you go to a planet that is a resort and how the ending of the quest is. it wouldve just made me never even want to play this game ever again

Ditto. I have not finished the game, but I have no intention of going NG+. It completely misses the point of RPG. I know it ties into the main story, but it is also COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, so no one is required to do.

All these people on NG+10 after only 50 hours, proclaiming the game to be trash, I think I know what their problem is.

It's what I tell everyone on Skyrim forum when they ask what to do after finishing the main story: "Go play another game, then come back later and create a new character".

If you're not having fun playing any game, you shouldn't continue playing it.
You don't need us to make decisions for you. You got this.

You never mentioned how many hours you've been at it.

I took a break after 146 hours and haven't even touched the main story. My quest log is overloaded. I got sidetracked by surveying, combat, exploring, and sidequests.

Seems that everywhere I went I got hit with side quests. This game auto-scoops them for you simply by eavesdropping or passing by the right location at the right moment.

I quite liked the quests, but it's the most unmanageable quest log that I've ever had in a video game. I'm used to being disciplined and in control, but that isn't possible in this game. You'll be going along the straight and narrrow and then bam, you're suddenly off the rails doing something completely different for the next three hours.

I swear that some of these side quests must have taken two or three hours to complete. They are far from being fetch quests. You can play MMO's if you want those.

Kill eight spiders. Return the fangs to Aragorn for your reward.

The faction quests and some companion quests are basically the best content of the game.

Side quests are 70/80% fetch quests masked by side quests.

For the outpost is basically only storage.

The place where you can expose your items, if you are into collection, is limited and not all items can be displayed.

Add to this there a limit of only 6 mannequins, i have over 15 complete space suits and over 15 incomplete space suits and i can't display them...

The exploration is the worst part.

Scanning would be interesting if you can catalogue plants and fauna, but bethesda doesn't cared of this part, the max you will see is a little number for fauna in the stats.

I'm at 106 unique animals ecounter, i not remember nearly any of them.

And the usually best part of bethesda game, the dungeons, are even more lacking of quality and quantity.

THere are around 50(counting all variants) dungeons copy pasted everywhere, in every part, even the stories on tabula and computer, only loot in containers changes.

All the other dungeons are tied to a side/faction/main quests and in total not even reach 100, even fallout 3 haved around 100 dungeons in 2008, skyrim nearly 200 in 2011...

Really i suggest you to finish the faction quests , companions quests and do the main quests.

There are some good side quests, but are buried under dozens and dozens of fake side quests in reality fetch quests, so it's your choice.

Personally i have done everything i can do in a single run.

I thanks Microsoft to let me play this game with gamepass, not worth full price, maybe is a game worth 25/30€.

If you want to see what you can found in a single run if you do all i have done a video,.

But some items can be a spoiler of some quests.

It depends on your playstyle and what you deem enjoyable. If you don't find anything you can enjoy in the game then it might not be to your preference which is fine games are gonna hit or miss with people because everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If you feel disappointed in the game as a whole and can't really find something enjoyable in it, no matter how long you play it for it's gonna feel the same.
