Got a laptop RTX 3050 4gb, 16GB Ram, Ryzen 7 4800H

Not really good with tech stuff, so just wanted to check if I have any chance of running this game at all

If lucky. 15-30 fps on 720p on lowest settings.

Your processor is 3 years old, nearing the end of its life.

That video card, with 4GB is terrible.

16GB of RAM is below average these days.

Good news is, you have lots of time to upgrade before release.

Have a word with your banker.

16 gb of ram is avarage and over 50% of people have that. Its also enough for all games besides 3, so 99.9% of all games (on 1080p) but I mean.. lets be honest, whom wants to use Star Citizen as a metric for anything...

The OP has a regular cheap student/work Laptop. The OP can´t swap out stuff and most likely is not interested in it.

The 4gb vram is enough for 720p lowest textures in 99.9% of all games.. If we had talked about 1080p and even 1440p on anything that ultra then 99.9% of games would do fine with 8gb vram..

People overdo the Vram debate.

This game recommends 8gb vram (it will never reach above on 1080p without RT and everything on ultra and that is a waste anyway, its 3% visual gain)

Back to topic.

OP you should try and buy the game, then refund if you can´t run it, you have 2 hours to test out (you need much much less than that)

ram will probably be the problem here since min rq's say 16gb and with only 16gb ram the game will get 10-12gb max

you should be able to on at least low settings. Not sure if it will have dlss but that would work very well for you on performance. Your hardware meets the minimum req. Two hour time refund window to find out.

cpu should be fine , if the games not optimized well you will prob see the laptop maxing out ram before your gfx card on low settings.

Yeah probably, would you suggest me getting a Xbox Series S for this game?

I was going to suggest getting upgrades for your PC but I re-read the post and saw that it's a laptop. I saw a video of Todd talking about how the game runs on the xbox and while it is locked to 30FPS, it's going to be consistent. He said that they can nearly get it up to 60FPS on console but it wasn't good consistency. Perhaps later on after release there will be a 60FPS option setting but the visuals will not be as nice.

Playing on your laptop is do-able but it may not be great, But if you crank down the graphics settings you should get solid gameplay performance.

If you can't afford a new machine, I'd suggest just going with an XBX, grabbed now, before release. Not shilling, but do you think you're the only one in this situation?

if the games been developed for 8 years surely they should make it run on 8 year old pcs
Did you know that Microsoft Store has built in system requirements check, you can open Microsoft Store then search for Starfield, scroll down to System Requirements if your PC/laptop can run it then it should say something like "This product will work on your device". If you don't mind, could you please reply, I am really interested in what did it say?

that was helpful, thanks
Do not listen to anyone. This is the Bethesda engine. In the config files you can remove the quality of the shadows and the game will fly up to 100+fps. Relax, your laptop calmly pulls Cyberpunk (I have almost the same laptop - video card and 16ram. This is PC GAMING, here mods and configs optimize the game better than developers
