Visuals Look Dull and Washed Out - Terrible Blacks
I have an OLED monitor and this game has the worst blacks I have ever seen. It looks like I am playing on a CRT from the 90s.

I have disabled HDR and it still looks awful. Any fixes for this? Google has not been particularly helpful. I am really enjoying the deep blacks in all the loading screens though....

EDIT: image showing the issue I am having

This is how other games look on my PC using Dead Space as an example:

EDIT Reinstalled the game which fixed the issue.

Case closed.

Turn film grain down to nothing and maybe a LUTs remover mod. Auto HDR works fine for me on my Samsung TV, so it could be a hardware specific thing.

You can get correct black levels with the in-game calibration settings with some trial and error, however there are certain color filters in this game used in certain locations that greatly raise the black levels when they are applied, only mods can fix this. The various LUT/HDR mods should fix this issue in general
Just a suggestion

There are more LUT mods, just have a look at the pictures and choose one...

This is the one I'm using. I was using Natural LUTs, but it hasn't updated for Shattered Space, so I switched.

Tried the mods, nothing seems to fix this issue. Still looks like I am using a $20 monitor from Wish...

I have added a image to the original post

Do you have AutoHDR on in Windows and the game and is the monitor HDR capable?

Your HDR is ♥♥♥♥♥♥...This will happen if you have oit turned on on your monitor and in windows....Looks like you have it on on your monitor, windows and in game tbh

If that were the case then it HUD would look equally as washed out as the game does. Only the HUD icons are actually black. And this is the ONLY game I play that is affected.

We can't see most of the HUD and HUD elements in the image. Be that as it may, not necessarily. The whites and high contrast font/background combos can look fine while other elements are "washed out". To me, it looks like your HDR is messed up as well.

CRT black levels are very good. As far as what's going on with your screen specifically, Windows HDR calibration really varies depending on the game, your GPU, your drivers and the specific monitor or TV you're running on. Some games just work better on certain monitors when HDR is turned off, others require a lot of custom calibration to work well.

The visuals are mediocre at best in Starfield. Most of the time it looks like a game from 2014.

You may need spectacles if you think SF graphics look like 2013 graphics. Book an urgent opticians appointment. Either that or get a better PC and turn it all up to ultra. Looks fantastic.
