Ship design inspiration
Ships in the Alien franchise are excellent, but how would you build a new ship from scratch that looks like it belongs. This video shows how he built his vision of an Alien ship and I hope gives you some inspiration for your next design in Starfield.

I also hope everyone will show their inspirations for ship design in this thread. Starfield's ship building is so good it could have easily been a complete program in itself and I love what people have done so far. Can't wait for more.

I guess nobody was impressed. I sure was. Inspiration can come from anywhere.

I personally dont get into the ship crafting. It seemed very hard to do when i played at launch and without any tutorials i just figured my time was better spent doing quests.

I used stock and stolen/purchased ships the whole game with no customizations.

I think its awesome how many folks do spend 100s if not 1000s of hours in the mode though.

I just built my first "from scratch" ship a few weeks ago. And then promptly went through Unity. I was really just out of character playing around for an early design this NG+. I avoided it mostly because I didn't want to build a ship with odd placed doors and ladders. I mean the BGS solution works, but not ideally. So I finally broke down and installed the PDY (Place Doors Yourself) mod along with SPE (Stroud Premium Edition) and was really just trying them out. I won't be removing them.
I don't know what would be better. Going all out and building a ship in Blender 3D or any other 3D program or try it in Starfield first?

Do both, so you know what to make, it will require a lot of special aspects in order to work here. Plus even the vanilla & mod stuff around already is vast & can do tons.

PDY (Place Doors Yourself) & SPE (Stroud Premium Edition) are MUST haves IMO, I also have a bunch of other ship building mods, One of my favorite parts of the game definitely, its too fun to build a ship & fly & fight with it. My current ship can hold 16 crew, but my next one will be 35 when I complete it, with mods you can increase past the 8 crew limit, waaaay past, so long as your system can handle it. I didnt notice any impact on performance at all with 16 crew walking around & engaging the habs & such, game is super stable, even with tons of mods lol.
