Further Into The Unknown

So I am level 21 and started this quest. Man after moving through it I found out I need to be a higher level or find better weapons, LOL. Anyway I have a question, if I go and gather the powers I am finding BEFORE starting FITU quest, will it mess up anything?

I just discovered I need some kind of pilot points to purchase a better ship so I am looking into that mess, LOL! Having a blast moving through space doing all kinds of side quests. :) Well except when I land on some planet with giant spiders level 50 and up, LOL!

None of the quests are time sensitive. You can completely ignore them as long as you like, and it just doesn't matter. I generally find my way to the Lodge with the frontier, then tell Sarah I have 'stuff to do', and go my own way for quite a while..... :D

Yeah I left Sarah and everyone else except Vasco behind after the quest I needed her for in the beginning. I gathered all occupants of the Lodge so they are in one spot now. :)

Ugh so many things I need skills for I had no clue I would need, like for better ships. I am still running around with the one I was given in the beginning, LOL. I keep trying to get bigger fuel tanks but it won't upgrade or let me add them so lots to figure out! :)

Just a minor correction, there are some Radiant pickup/delivery quests that are timed, but none of the non-Radiant quests I've seen are.

Eeek. The only outstanding main quest is Further Into The Unknown and I need to put this one off for a while. Everything else I have are side quests that showed up from peeps chatting as I walk by.

I do have three or four power quests. I wonder if it will mess anything up if I do those before the Further Into The Unknown? I can't imagine it would. They just keep showing up as I go to different planets for side quests. I always fully survey every planet I land on. Love surveying!

You need to get all the powers and artifacts before you can move on anyway.

rush the powers then rush the main story. Dont bother side questing until you completely the game a few times the core of the game is locked behind new game + ( yes makes no sense trust me ). You're essentially wasting your time doing anything other than this right now.

Mmmm okay. I haven't looked into NG+ or ++, etc to see what changes since I am just starting out, level 25 right now. Not sure why I would be wasting time trying to figure out all the game has to offer, skills, outposts, connecting outposts, crafting, etc.

How is the core locked behind NG+? Maybe quests change? You will still be getting more skill points and such once you start NG's. From what I understand there really isn't a level cap on the game, I could be wrong.
