First engage the command console and type 'slm player 2' Close the command console and now edit the player's looks to how you want the follower to look. Exit out of the character generator and manoeuvre the player character to where the targetted follower is prominent on the screen. Now engage the console again and click on the follower. A code prefixed by NPC will appear in the centre of the screen. Now type 'capp 14' into the console and press 'enter'. Exit the console and your follower should have the looks you just made for the player. If you want to change the player back to their previous looks, execute the 'slm player 2' command again.
The one he posted has a requirement mod you also need to install.
But as he also mentioned there are others.
This one has zero requirements;

Know that, too much work, doesnt carry over to new games. Mod works better. You are trying to literally teach the dude who invented Bethesda.
If you invented Bethesda, then you should realise it's barely any work at all. And some players may not want the changes to carry over to new games.
