27 Nexus mods just to make this game 'normal' for me
None of it additional content, no weapons, no gear, no textures *except for water and glass*, no special effects. The majority of it was User Interface mods and a correction of all of the tedious crap that was built into the game to annoy and hamstring the player.

It makes me wonder, what kind of people are making games for Bethesda? Who are these people? They definitely aren't like us. The gaming community.

SO much TEDIOUS CRAP that needs correcting. It's mind boggling. The greenish blue film that we are forced to look at the game world through, yeah, that can be easily removed.

Who came up with that?

The texture of water that made it look like jello? yeah, that can be fixed too, pretty easily in point of fact. Glass, even glass, that can be fixed.

This game is like a hollow shell full of errors, mistakes and bad decisions that begs to be corrected and filled with a higher quality of basic content and quality of life design choices.

It is criminal that Bethesda would have the balls to ask 70 dollars for this game and actually go a step further to charge 100 for 5 days early access.

There's no vehicles in this game, none. I've heard that we may get them, but it's inexcusable.

Scanning crap in the world.....lol....ridiculous. A tiny percentage at a time so you are forced to scan the same bush or tree again and again and again to get 10 to 25 experience points.

Yeah, that can be fixed too.

Todd Howard is a nasty greedy little man. He must be. Oh he seems cool, seems like he's sincere and cares about games and gamers, but that dude signed off on all of it.

I hope the game gets better, I think it will but I do realize it's probably going to cost because look who we are dealing with and the state of this game now and when it came out. It's a bit of fun, but you have to mod it or the tedious garbage you keep running into that some call 'design choices' are actually sabotage.

We are fortunate to have Nexus Mods, it's a necessity for any Bethesda game except Fallout 76.

I bought this game YESTERDAY and I had to put in 27 mods on day two just to make it tolerably playable. The more I play it the more I'm probably going to want to add to that.

That leveling wall trap (sort of like quicksand), you hit after the first rank, anything after that, where the game requires you to shoot so many of this target or do this or do that 20 to 100 times before you can pick a perk in the 2nd rank or higher. What B.S., you can fix that with a mod too.

Don't forget you can't dive in water despite this game being a 10/10, realistic game for mature gamers (what people have argued it is). Don't forget as well that this forum is not allowed for criticism because people here have 3000 hours in the game and NOTHING is bad or tedious or boring or slow. The story is fantastic and immersion is literally the best in any game.

This is what I mean when I say game devs today think they're too big to fail.

They've lost touch with gamers, they probably don't even play the games they make anymore, but I bet they did when they first started out.

And you're right about Todd, I can still see his face when he promised thousands of planets to explore and build stuff on. Only a fraction of that was true!

I hope indie companies are watching this and learning what not to do.

"Mods will save the game" is not true. "Mods are necessary to make the game bearable" is true. One of the "advocates" for the game posted somewhere awhile ago that not only was the game perfect, but they listed 37 mods they used to "enjoy it more" and most of them were literally just bug fixes and basic quality of life improvements with the UI and inventory management. Unreal levels of hypocrisy and cope around this game. A billion dollar company's product that cost hundreds of millions.

and the consumer's time and effort in making it work...

It's kind of funny, and also terribly sad, that some people have no tolerance for anything that deviates from the one formula they prefer. None of the mods you mentioned "fix" anything "broken". They change the game to something closer to the headless chicken FPS MMO to which you're accustomed. Congratualtions! You've chosen a game that actually allows you to homogenize it to the "standard" you demand, no room for art, no room for deviation from formulaic nonsense.

The company is calling Starfield a masterpiece in their own trailer, it’s like you give yourself a bj, it’s hilarious.

You shouldn’t need that many mods to even make Starfield remotely playable.

8/10 :) I'm just being a goof.

OP, to be honest, I'm surprised you only have 27. I had 100s of mods when I used to play Skyrim and Fallout 4 a lot. And I have already installed way more than 27 for Starfield. But for me that's part of the fun of a BGS game.
