Stargate Atlantis (series) : a source of inspiration for SF ?
I have the impression that the SF devs have drawn, at least partially, from the Sargate Atlantis series.

I'm not 100% sure but it gives that impression.

I know this series (SG Atlantis) well, just like SG1 and SG Universe.

In SG Atlantis science is much more in the spotlight than in the other Stargate series.
Science is more omnipresent, systematic, it is very often the basis of all the episodes...

Even if SG Atlantis is not always very realistic and credible, such as the only presence of villages of farmers near the Stargate, or pre-industrial societies or barely industrialized
(19th century or early 20th century for us),

not to mention the "very human / earthly" settings that the Atlantis exploration teams
encounter very often...etc., science and technology take a very important place, and sometimes the setting is an exact copy of what we can encounter on Earth...

What I remember most about this series is that the scientific content and other things
that would be too long to tell here...

Very interesting setting thats for sure.

Good writing can make Starfield epic, i am sure they can do it to even now so very interesting how it goes.

Alot of the game is done very well so it makes sense some good writing can be done as well.

What went on during the making of Starfield i dont know, but i am not over thinking anything, i am a video game player and its not my job to do thinking stuff. LOL

Could very well be. They drew a lot of inspiration from a lot of Sci-FI classics, especially heavily from Clarke and Aasimov. "The Well" is a clear take on the Trantor underbelly in the Foundation series. Foundation also spawned "Spacers", but they were the first wave to leave Earth, whereas that's not clear in Starfield. Also the condition of Earth borrowed from Foundation as well. There's also the obvious connection of the artifacts to Clarke's artifacts in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Most of the influences appear to be to the older, more classical and "realistic" Sci-Fi. Even relative newcomers like the Herbert don't get the nod, never mind Star Wars or Star Trek. There's also the "browncoat" kind of thing going on with Akila City/Freestar Collective (Firefly), so maybe there are some references to more modern stuff here and there.

seems based on a lot of stuff, the npc clothing at new atlantic looks based on star trek TNG civilian clothes, the particle shotgun looks clearly based on the deep space 9 Phaser rifle.

a lot of the clothing options for the player remind me of stargate and the expanse, even the story kind of has similar themes to those 2.

too many people were expecting blade runner, Cyberpunk , star wars or Halo but by bethesda and said the game is bad.

but it really has a lot of cool sci-fi references everywhere, just ones that more game oriented sci-fi enjoyers wouldn't notice or care about

I agree. Although I am not very familiar with American science fiction literature (my references are either more European or more recent, drawn from modern popular culture: Star Wars, Stargate...etc.), I do believe that there are references to Arthur C. Clarke, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Trek, Deep Space, Foundation and many others, no doubt...
