What are your complete PC specs zaaseti?
Easiest and best way is to show us what Steam sees.
The steps are as follows (very simple):
Go up top here in Steam and find "Help"
Next choose "System information"
Give it a second or 2 to populate
Then simply copy & paste the info here in this thread, all of it.
And are you currently running or have you ever had mods installed on your game?
It might be - Ive played over 130 hours and the game has never had any technical issues that resulted in crashing or not responding...
Could be anything from a bad mod to a bad save to a bad comp.
Saying not have issue proves that it's not the game itself as I played for over 400 hours and game never crashed on me once. It helps in troubleshooting as it rules out the game running as intended is causing issue but something else. This is on WIndows 11 by the way.
But, that said, I've something like 300 hours at this point and not a single crash. Crashing is absolutely, 100%, atypical for this game. I've had, in fact, BG3, post-release, so not EA, crash on me a handful of times (known bugs, since rectified). Starfield, not even in early release. So, yes, it definitely is your install.
Now, you can listen to the people who are telling you to just cry, shriek, and scream. Or, you can accept the help being offered and help us help you. It's pretty obvious those yapping nonsense don't have your best interests in mind, so...
windows 10
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
16.0 GB ram
Nvidea Geforce 2080 RTX
and my SSD Is
samsung 960 EVO SSD 1TB
and yes drivers are all up to date
game seems to just be severely poor optimization.. stuttering, lag like, even sounds get mismatched and delayed, frame freezing and abrupt without warning crashs with no crash log
What graphics card do you have...?
First time in the shaders have to be rebuild. That cab take a bit depending on your rig.
Again, you system specs would be needed to get better help.
And your Graphics card (Nvidia RTX 2080)
I know sometimes people don't want to hear it but your graphics card is down there in the minimum/recommended range so don't run on Ultra settings and play higher than 1080p
I'm sure people run this game on a 2080 (and even lower), your CPU is on the low side for modern gaming in 2024, but when it comes to gaming all PC's with the same specs do not perform the same over time. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to run this game because you should but a lot also depends on how well you maintain your system both internally and externally.
One thing for sure, the game is not poorly optimized! I know for me and the people I know that play this game say the same thing.
I run a RTX3090, i9-12900k, Windows 11, playing on Ultra and at 2560x1440 and the game runs as well or better than any game in my Library. No stuttering, no freezing, no crashing issues. So saying "the game seems to just be severely poor optimization" is not accurate and most people agree.
You also need to make sure that nothing is running in the background while you are playing. When's the last time you blew the dust out from the inside of your pc? While you're at it how much of your SSD is full (how much free space) and what about giving your PC a checkup in general right down to checking your registry for errors, all that.
Again, I'm sure a lot of games run ok on your system, I still have my RTX2070 with a i9-8700 and many games run excellent on it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't time for a new setup in order to play new games going forward.
yeah, the game's unstable every now and then. since the most recent patch, i crashed somewhere between 3-8 times. i sometimes have to close the game, delete starfieldprefs.ini file, then restart the game. came across a supply mission that got bugged, unable to complete. a mission from one of that ship Constant's crew that won't start after finishing the convo. my home ship that has gone hollow, crashing when moving an object partially under another (outpost), fighting invisible mobs (pirate captains in POI, only the guns are floating) or alien lifeforms that are always in "stealth mode", only way is track them with a scanner, then use a gun with recon sight. would have believed that its a feature but if another alien lifeform kills them, the dead bodies can be seen, if i kill them, no dead bodies..
