Is there ANYTHING that allows the player to have more than 8 crew members active at the same time?
I asked this elsewhere, but decided the question needs its own thread.

I have a ship designed that can accommodate 10 crew members. But what is the point if I'm maxed out at 8?

Not vanilla. I think I saw a mod that removed all limits on the ship and made it so you can have as many crew as you have seats.
The unmodded maximum, unless I'm mistaken or something has changed, is 8. Yes I agree that it's not great and doesn't comport with the ship stats. I believe there are mods that increase the limit. I play vanilla so I haven't checked personally but I've seen discussion of them.

I too play vaniila and 8 is the magic number. Remember Sarah does not count towards whatever number of crew you have. So if you have 7 and it shows six but you have Sarah as part of your crew then you have 7. That is of course if you actually have 7.

Actually, afaik, you can have the ship's crew max PLUS whoever is your active companion onboard. (And Cora Coe if Sam is onboard.) But the extra passenger(s) can't be assigned as crew if you already have your full crew allotment filled.

Try these on your ship ID if you have access to console commands):

.forceav SpaceshipCrewRating 10
.forceav SpaceshipCrewSlots 10

Yes - I have a max crew capacity of 8 for my ship, but I have 9 crew:
Amelia Earhart, Andreja, Andromeda Kepler, Barrett, Gideon Aker, Marika Boros, Omari Hassan, Sam Coe, and Sarah. But that's the max for vanilla, as far as I know.

Take another look at your actual Crew assignments. You _should_ see that those nine have a LOCATION of being on your ship, but only 8 list as Assigned and one as Unassigned. Depending on the quest, you could have a dozen people on board, but only a max of 8 of them will list as Assigned to the ship. (Which means that ONLY the Assigned members' skills apply to ship operations.)

Not exactly no. To keep it simple whatever the number that shows as the current Max Crew capability for your ship you can have that +1 IF Sarah is one of the active members. She doesn't have to be following you nor do any of the others listed as "Crew".

And as far as "ONLY the Assigned members' skills apply to ship operations." that's true up to a point because they do not stack past a certain point. For example VASCO will give you one more power pip bar that you can assign but hiring another crew member who has that same buff will not change anything beyond what VASCO raised it to.

They are all assigned directly to the ship - I checked for the names before I posted. I would not have posted otherwise.

Also, don't forget, with the Rank 2 Leadership Skill (which I have - well, I have all 4 ranks), you get +1 to the crew on your ship. So, although my ship has listed a max crew of 8, because of that skill I get +1, so 9 crew.

Hmm. Who is Andromeda Keplar? AFAIK, the Keplar was the ship class that Howard Stroud gives you. So, to me, that reads as a _ship_ being assigned to your crew.

I also don't recognize Marika Boros. Is she a hireling?

And lastly, in your game, does Sarah happen to be dead? In my games, I've noticed that after she dies, the game keeps assigning her to my current ship. (Funny image: the ghost of Sarah still protecting the ship.)

I just looked at Leadership and what I get for the ranks is:
1 -- Companions gain affinity 25% faster
2 -- Companions have 50% more health and 50 kg more carrying capacity
3 -- Companions will occasionally heal you when you get low health
4 -- Doubles the bonuses of Combat and Physical Crew skills on Companions. Companions have a chance to pick themselves up from a downed state.

I don't see anything about getting +1 Crew slot to your ship.

Look under Crew Stats in the box on the right. In game only shows the Rank stats.

Andomeda Kepler and Marika Boros are companions that you can hire. And no, in my game, Sarah is,unfortunately very much alive - LOL!

I would date Marika Boros. She's maybe not super-attractive. but very sweet and kind. Not a Karen, like Sarah.

Two of my favorites. Marika and Andromeda are both always recruited/hired by me on each and every play through.

Marika has some fantastic dialogue concerning her back ground which I really enjoy going through with her each and every play through. Love her.

Andromeda is by far the most pleasant crew member. Always very cheerful.

Well, pshaw; yet another IMPORTANT thing BGS didn't bother to communicate to the players.

I hate these guessing/hide-and-go-seek games BGS makes us play. (I wouldn't be surprised if one of these days a bomb detonates in a BGS office somewhere, set by a super-annoyed player.)

This Crew trait raises another question: Does the ship captain (the player character) count as one of the Crew? Because I have my 8 people (Ship Command 4) assigned to my Home ship and am not allowed to assign any more. If Leader 2 (of which I have all 4) allows the player to add 1 more crew member, that would allow me to Assign _9_ people ..... UNLESS the captain counts as one of the crew.
