It already exists now.
You'd have to eat hundreds of bugs to get a usable amount of energy from them, and growing literally millions of bugs for this is probably more expensive than rearing a bunch of cows, pigs or chickens...
Cows and Chickens also have other uses, like Milk and Eggs. Pigs are required for Gelatine etc.. so we'd still require those animals, whereas bugs will be used for food only...

It isn't far-fetched at all. Many people eat them today. Heck, you and most people you know have been eating them for quite some time if you've had food with "natural red dye" in it.
Watch many people become vegans when you tell them that natural red dye comes from a bug.

The use Palm Oil as a cheaper alternative to butter, yet it's known to cause issues, which is costing countries more in the long run to fix the issues Palm Oil causes (and it's not just human health here)

No, no i havent, BUT, those meats haven't been replaced by bugs... There simply isn't enough to go around, so it's the meat replacing the bugs (The opposite of what the OP is claiming)
