There is a mod that can fix that...

And so far I rarely bother sleeping/waiting on a bench, I'd rather just sell what I can to whatever shops are around, then go and do something else or head to another location and sell more stuff there. It's ironically faster to travel somewhere else than it is to wait on a bench for 24 hours.
It should be even easier and quicker after a NG+ run to get it back versus the first time you played. You know where to go, can have several skills already. I did my first NG+ run at level 58. Was not hard to get credits built back up. Or took a long time. You get several thousand from just going to the Lodge and talking to Sara. :p
Press the ` (backtic) for console
Use the mouse and click inside the callout circle marker
Confirm that the console selected object ID names the vendor
(if not then you need to click again and/or change your position in the world)
Once the console shows the selected object is the vendor then do this command
additem f 100000
That will bump the vendor by 100k.
Bethesda failed an opportunity to add character to the vendors by tweaking their available funds. I've got no problem with a backwater vendor sitting on only 5k. I've a huge problem with the primary commercial consortium having only 5k.
Bethesda could have had the vendors grow cash over time up to some very large cap. Then I could just visit Bessell III-b and sleep 24 hours and grow world cash by 1.2 bagloads.
That would have been fun.
Sitting on a fake bench and pretend sleeping just to cycle vendor cash is an egregious design flaw in every way.
There is supposedly a hidden merchant at a Civilain Outpost on Venus, which has only a 1 hr reset for her credit and items. If you can find her. Lol. I tried and never did.
