A planet infested with zombies
I think this game should have famous stories specific to the planets. I could spend almost weeks on a planet with a zombie apocalypse. While continuing the main story, I want to spend hours on the planet whose story I like. This game has a lot of potential and I think it should be used well. Sometimes the goal is not just to finish the game, but to have a good time in our dream world.
*I love you guys and what you do, keep it up.

Planet Romero. Copy that.

Of course, you could always play State of Decay 2 instead.

Zombies is too much, but where I started not feel SF combats clearly better than in FO4 it's because of abuse of human enemies, and low work on other enemies.

In some outposts reused much more interesting would have been to have variations on no human enemies, much more than having a different faction.

It seems that all aggressive relatively dangerous aliens animals are making kind sounds to warn the player, ok, but a few should not and setup a thrilling outpost.

When the mods finally hit, I dont think theres a better blank canvas than this game. Kinda roasting Starfield but at the same time, being honest... I think the mods for this game are going to be insane and will be why people are still playing this in a few years.

If the game is popular for modding, it's a delicate balance, for limited changes of the game, mods spawn more easily, once it starts be bigger, and involve gameplay content added, that's either not that high quality or it takes a lot more time.

Myself I'm tedious with mods, but if someone get inspired by ELEX 1&2 for generating animals in generated areas, I could be curious to try it.

Same for jetpack, it's fine a mod let player custom mostly everything, but it's not gameplay design tuning I want do, instead, one mod attacking the topic on gameplay design perspective, this could drag my curiosity.

Agreed. Someone will definitely mod it.

They already have a canon scenario where miners had ore encased in ice that melted, releasing an unknown airborne microbe that ate their brains. (One of the many derelicts people can find. Likely based on a real amoeba-like microbe found in water that can find its way into the brain from the nasal passages and just go to town on that grey matter.)

So at the very least, it's lore-plausible.

I'm surprised there is no Mad Max-style desert planet with raiders and cannibals.

Be careful what you ask for, Shattered Space just might be that... where all the dead Starborn go...

They could have had so much fun with it if Bethesda were creative.
Imagine if it "wasn't" the settled systems. Imagine if humanity been scattered after the Earth's demise and you could visit different planets with different cultures, tech levels, weird philosophies, religions etc...

But that requires creativity, passion and to give a ♥♥♥♥ about the game and gamers.
Nah...Much easier to have 1000 randomly generated planets with recycled POI's.

3M words I don't think BG3 can match that, even less any Bethesda RPG.

So your comment is just seeing the holes.

Give me a grey goo scenario planet then tell me to retrieve something of importance from it before all is consumed.
