*Sigh* lmao, alright, you just believe whatever website tells you the biggest number so you don't have to think that your game is a failure.
The game peaked around 300k
Why do people constantly mix up 10 million players with 10 million copies sold?
It's on purpose. If you notice, no one is trying to argue the thread argument about how many of those players are actually paid. Instead, it's personal attacks, cope, showing random websites with active player counts that are 19x higher then steams...
They wanna believe so badly that all or most of those 10 million is paid when the player count of paid users shows it being closer to 60-80+% being on gamepass
You can also literally save at any point in Starfield. It would be understandable if you didn't want to play a game where you gotta put in say an hour if you have 10-30 minutes but Starfield can be played in 10 minute intervals.
It's a bunch of sad cope
It comes from estimations on premium sales. There's no valid evidence, it's fanboy dreams.
And starfield cost over $400 million to make
That was detailed, thanks
All of those are games with online componnents, can't really compare the player numbers to a single player only game a month+ after its release. Many of the early players of starfield have finished the game and moved on within the first week or 2. I mean there is nothing in Starfield that really grips anyone to keep playing due to the poor lore, the boring world and npcs, the poor writing etc, and the fact there just isin't really anything intersting to do in the game. You can't even really go exploring like you could in a fallout or elder scrolls game because there is nothing out there on those planets to find.
Microsoft bought ZeniMax Media (including Bethesda) for $7.5 billion, just to block Sony from making another deal with Bethesda to make Starfield a PS5 exclusive (like Deathspiral, and Ghostwire). Obviously Microsoft is not going to recuperate $7.5 billion with Starfield (and Xbox/gamepass) sales but you're talking pocketmoney for Ms really.
there will be alot more sold further down the line
I suspect a big sales burst when the ck comes out. I played the game on gamepass as I already had a sub for it, but I might buy it on steam if modders can somehow fix a decent amount of the games issues, like making exploration and such worthwhile, maybe improving the combat as while the combat is not bad persay, its not really good either. Its just mid, somehow they copied fallout 4's gunplay and mod system for weapons and somehow made it LESS fun than it was in fallout 4.
I don't know if valve has a seperate agreement with bethesda/Microsoft but in case you are interested valve changed thair revenue cut back in 2018 to a tiered one:
