Ending sucks, main story line is terrible
I think Pac-man has a better main story than Starfield... What the heck was that ending, who would repeat the same game with that horrible ship? No thank you.

It was designed around replayability ... there is nothing Todd could have done to make it better.
the game doesn't have much going for it these days.

nah, that makes zero sense, I don't wanna lose my sweet ship and be handed a borefest noob ship, and lose all my hoarded credits and modded guns
NG+ rounds will make sense on some point, you start to speed run those, then you get bored speed running and try missions with different outcomes etc...
it is fantastic.
you start to create plans how to efficiently get stuff done to point where you can roll over whole content fast etc

And become the Hunter. 😎

Nobody does this, only speedrunners do, not normal gamers, this is a forced artificial replayability. Who even plays Skyrim, or Fallout 4 again just to see if they can complete it faster apart from speed runners?

Cannot relate at all this seems alien to me. Also what do you mean missions with different outcomes haven't seen any. the only ones with choice are the faction ones. (as far as i have seen)

It is fun to just explore places, and do long winded quest lines but yeah, overall I'd say it is a really mediocre game in many aspects, hopefully it will improve like no man's sky, and many other bethesda games.

Werent you defending every fiber of the game in a thread you made like uh 2-3 weeks ago?

New Game + should do just that. It should add factions and a different main story due to other actors now being involved. Why does it drop you in the same time period?

What I would pay to go back say 30 years.

The main story is a long line of fetch quests. Some are short and simple, some are lengthy and more complex, but it's just go fetch the artifact over and over. Even the final mission with the end boss fight at the sunken temple is just to fetch the artifact in the sunken temple.

Then there's the other fetch quests that go along with the main quest. The go to a temple and fetch the power 240 times. Each of the 24 artifacts has an associated temple. So each artifact is actually 2 fetch quests. Fetch the artifact, then fetch the power.

Starfield is a fetch quest simulator.

Then you reach NG+ and you realize what the game has been all along. It really is Fetch Quest: The Game. In each universe all the starborn are in a competition to fetch all 24 artifacts and all 24 powers and reach the unity to become more powerful. Each NG+ interval is a new round, and each universe is that round's playing field.

The problem here is that the player can't lose. You can't lose that round to the Hunter or Emissary or any other Starborn. The Player wins every time. It's like that episode of the Twilight Zone where the gambler died and his afterlife was a casino where he always won.

NG+ could have been great. It could have been a competition. Instead it's repeatative busy work.

The endings always suck. Fallout 3 sucked, fallout 4 sucked. Didn't keep me from putting a thousand hours into them

The ship design is a leftover from tech the Creators use, which is why contraband scanners freak out over not registering a reactor, ect...
Indeed. Sadly, it does not get much better. Speed is the only thing going for the ship.

I liked the stories in Fallout 3 and 4. Choices had consequences and endings were truly different, and not just a lack of repeatable quests and inclusion of others in turn. The only real major consequence comes from choosing the fleet or sysdef. Nothing else impacts anything else.

The game was clearly made disjointed and then assembled post, without consideration.

This is why I go through the main quest of a new Bethesda game precisely once, then get mods that let you start in some random place with no connection to anything, you're just a wandering murder hobo, and that's where these games shine

I feel like a high pacman doing the temples. Luckily there is a mod to fix it. And when I say fix it; I mean no more space pacman ;)

I don't like the Main story in the game. It's just dumb, with the Starborn and Alternate Universes theme. There are some faction quest chains however, which are far superior. NG+ was done better in The Witcher 3 imo.

I mean if players want to do 10 NG+ runs and be God like in the game, then go for it if that is your thing. Personally I would find that boring. There is so much more to the game than just doing that over and over.

You really feel the plot armor when your 'virgin' character defeats a starborn that should be god compared to you.
