Am I not seeing how to look thru what i have scanned and look up i.e. what planets i have scanned that have a specific resource? Or do I need to write all this down in a notebook? Can I look up specific systems in my scanned information and see what they have without having to go and look at the map in game? Basically where is the database for all the scanned info?

As you rank up in Scan, you can.
- Scan every planett/moon in the same system.
- Scan every planet/moon 10LY away (in other systems)
- Scan every planet/moon 30LY away (in other systems)

There's a guide in the guides section that shows how to get every inorganic resource with a minimum amount of outposts and the guide includes a chart with the best planets for each resource.
