no legendary enemy battle ships...155 hours in

been playing for 155 hours, id say 120 of that is pure ship combat. ive maxed out the ship skill tree and got the achievement for visiting every system yet i still havent encountered any of the legendary enemy ships to fight such as the Ecliptic battleship camulus or the vanu one. im lvl 56 and seen people encounter it at lvl 22... all i want is ship combat yet i cant even fight the hardest ships? does something trigger it? do i need to finish the main story? im at the quest just before all your companions go to the eye so i can get other stuff done before that. im about half way threw the UC faction missions. curious if theres some kind of pre-requisite to them spawning into the systems

I haven't seen one before and I have also basically explored every system, am in NG+ at similar hours. Also I completed the main story, sidequest I could find, and every faction except crimson fleet.

WTF wrong with you both?! I destroyed Legendary Battleship Cumulus and Va'Ruun Shroudbearer after very lazy exploration and 50-60h of playing...

Well I was farming random events in a system by traveling to each planet and moon in a roughly clockwise direction and on the 3rd time around the Ecliptic legendary ship spawned at one of the moons. You could try that?

i litterally spent 6 hours yesterday flying to each system and then flying to each planet hopeing to see either a battleship or see the "ship symbol" on the map to where they get shown and got nothing, even went to every moon that people have orriginally seen them and got the quest prompt to kill them XD

ive kinda tried that before, like ill go to the serpintine system and fly to every planet and moon cause within 12 seconds varun will spawn. does it take 12 seconds for the battleship to spawn or is it already in the system when you fly in?

I encountered the shroudbearer at wolf, when i wanted to sell the contraband from my newest conquered ship. Had to bank away because mine was half dead, could not find it anywhere since, the mission gives no sign where to go, the specified orbit is empty

If you want constant ship combat there's two options:
. Kryx to go against many Crimson Fleet ships at one time. You'll need a decent ship.
. Serpentis will spawn opposition (Vrun, Spacer, Starborn) at every planet/moon, from 1, 2, 3, or 4 at a time. You can just start at one and work your way around the system. When you get back to the start they sometimes retrigger, but you can always just go to venus and sleep for an hour (accelerated time = ~100 hours UTC iirc) and start again. It's the ship combat equivalent of beast hunting.

There's only a couple of the big legendary encounters, and they don't respawn afaik when you've beaten them.

I did not see any legendary ships whatsoever until NG1. Now I have seen 2 and killed 1.

Instead of being totally random they should link the Legendary battleships to logical locations in the game world.

Like the Ecliptic one spawning somewhere in the system with the massive Vulture's Roost base for that faction etc.

I doubt it's anything wrong with them. It's the way the RNG is with the game. Plus if you fast travel a lot, you have a lot smaller chance of randomly running into one.

I too have spent my fair share of time casually exploring. I even spent hours jumping to all the systems, (but apparently missed a couple because I didn't get the achievement.)

Currently on NG+2, and have played 229 hours. I also have not run into one of these yet. Thought I was going to once, but it turned out to just be a derelict ship.

360 hours, NG+10. Never seen one. This is only the second time I've even seen them mentioned anywhere.
